Elon should keep doing what he's doing.

The issue is people following his steps like he's some crypto guru trying to help you get rich when in fact he's just messing around. If you're such a dumb fuck that you put your entire life's savings into some extremely volatile non-currency like dogecoin, you deserve whatever happens.

It's almost like people should've taken notice when the guy faked the biggest LBO in history and got off with a slap on the wrist by the SEC.

He's simply trying to get us used to him, so when he becomes our overlord we'll feel good about it. I'm already warm and fuzzy at the notion.

Elon got in trouble for manipulating TSLA stock on Twitter. Now he does it with crypto because it's not a security and the SEC has no jurisdiction.

He can do whatever he wants and it's on you if you lose money investing in something that has no value.

Damn. Do you always have Elon's balls in your mouth or is today a special day for you?

"Earned the right"

How do you know I'm not Elon's daddy?
He's done more for the progress of humanity than any other person currently alive. Someone making a shitty investment decision is none of his concern.

Don't like his personality? Okay, that has nothing to do with his accomplishments. He has absolutely earned the right.

He should be able to say anything he wants but he is also responsible for the consequences of such manipulation.

Elon's balls are getting passed around a lot in here...

Progress of humanity??? More than anyone alive?? He's made rockets reusable and made an overpriced EV.... hardly the level of feeding starving orphans ..

hell, Trump brought peace to North and South Korea and staved off a very possible nuclear war... oh, and brought you the vaccine... TRUTH bitches

Made rockets reusable = Enabled the cost structure for future large-scale Mars colonization, a back-up plan in the case of a cataclysmic event on Earth.

"Overpriced EV" = Woke the whole legacy auto industry the fuck up, now everyone is scrambling to make EVs, and those who don't will be bankrupt within a decade. If you don't think Tesla accelerated this process by many years, you are delusional.

Also, if you don't think those developments aren't about as big as it gets on the "sustainability & ensuring our long-term survival" scale, you are delusional.

You are also forgetting Starlink (will solve Internet connectivity for remote areas for the entire world), Neuralink (will solve paralysis and mental illness), the Boring Company (will solve traffic congestion) and Tesla AI (will solve self-driving cars and general AI vision).

Progress of humanity lmao
So, what are you, a fuckboy who only concerns himself with getting laid?

I mean, that's the risk you take with crypto. It can go up, down or sideways in an instance. Sometimes just cause someone well known said something about it.

People need to shut up. Bitcoin is still at 50k. A crash is inevitable even with out Elon talking about it. It will crash and then sky rocket to even greater highs before the next halving event.
This is a pretty bad scenario though. Chips away at the concept of it actually being usable as a currency, and is a big advertisement for it's energy usage issue.

Double whammy.

The question really is how much has Tesla sold before this?

They have sold 10% in Q1 as a way to test liquidity, but aren't planning on selling the rest.

I know what they reported; but they could have sold more after that.

They made $100 million off of $1.5 billion but the price just tanked their investment past their profits if they didn't sell more lol

They said they would not be selling any in the announcement. Their cost basis is about $32-35k

I know.

Not sure what you aren't getting about the timeline here.

That announcement was yesterday; they could have sold more before that, and after their filing which revealed the $100 million in profit which was weeks ago.

I suppose so, but I view that as highly unlikely. They did not get into BTC to trade it, but more as a hedge against fiat

It's such blatant market manipulation. I wish people would stop defending billionaires. Elon is not your friend he probably hates you for being poor.
If you understood Elon, you'd know he would scorn you for reasoning by analogy.

No its not. Bitcoin has been in a bubble all throughout 2020 which started after the hype of the halving event. If you look at its trends bitcoin always spikes before a halving event and then rides it out for some time and then crashes. That is what is happening now. Tesla removing the ability to buy cars with the coin might have forced the bubble to collapse sooner..... my prediction is the bubble rides out for a bit longer. I don't think Tesla and Elon have the affect on the Crypto market that many people think. I still think Bitcoin is in a bubble.

In the long run bitcoin is not a sustainable currency and needs to be seen as a proof of concept. Blockchain works and it works damn well. People need to find that sustainable currency that will be the future.

If the shit you’re putting your money in is so flimsy that a few offhand comments and tweets causes it to boom or crash, you’re playing with fire. I’m not saying don’t get your money if you can. But don’t be surprised when it goes to shit.
The dollar is going to shit. Crypto and metals is a hedge against that. This correction is nothing if you have had crypto longer than a year.

That's kind of my point; Tesla backing down is not going to help it sustain.

I'm not saying it's doomed to not rebound; just saying this was a blow to bitcoins reputation. Tesla claiming they were going to accept it as a currency was a huge win for Bitcoin.. now not only has that been taken away but it's energy consumption issues are getting full press.

People can't take criticism anymore, not even criticizing other people that they like.

Social justice warriors come to the rescue...

The point is it's wrong and unethical for one man to be manipulating markets, even IF he's mankind's hero at the moment, just because he can.

Doing good doesnt give him free passes on doing wrong.

"Oh, but he's only harming the rich"

No, the entire crypto market follows bitcoin. He is in fact hurting the working class who have only slightly invested simply by his goofy tweets.

He was fined by the SEC $20 million for doing this same shit with Tesla stocks. He's only moved on to crypto.

For someone talking about SJWs (wtf does it even mean in this context?), you sure sound like a snowflake.

Did you have a microaggression when your BTC got rekt by Papa Elon and now you need a safe space?

Well, here’s the reason:

Could also be China putting pressure on Tesla (they have a huge factory in Shanghai). The Winnie-the-Pooh guvment's all about dat digital yuan.

Depends quite a bit on what you’re buying. Not all crypto is created equally. For example, Doge isn’t a hedge against anything. It’s garbage that someone will be left holding. I’ve got some money in crypto too (Eth mostly). But I recognize it’s volatility.

Also, crypto continues to be completely intangible. I get the comparisons to fiat since governments treat it like imaginary money too. But as least there is a government backing the currency. What backs Bitcoin? Blind faith? If faith in the dollar fails, the US will be forced to act to correct it. If faith in Bitcoin fails, no one is coming to save you.

Government backing is through war, coercion and commodities they control.

Bitcoin is backed by the worlds most powerful computer network. It is a firewall of encryption.

It is both a value and a transfer system. Those are why it is worth something.

lack of safety nets and increase in personal responsibility is not a bad thing in my opinion.

the US having control of the worlds money should not be viewed as a good thing in my opinion.

We had reusable rockets in the 80s. The space shuttle used a solid rocket booster and fuel tank the was reusable. They collected them from the ocean after every launch.
