Elyse leaves Gametrailers

It's remarkable how some game outlets made the cut. Xplay went down the toilet, UGO vanished into this air, GameSpy got merged into IGN because of "corporate issues" and they simply pulled the plug on 1UP.

all I can say is that she will be missed :'(

had a feeling something unexpected might happen from last week's shows...

Sad to see this. As a fan of GT for around 6 or 7 years I thought it has been better than ever lately. Real decent crew of people that love games. I love the vibe there. It's pretty much the only game website whose video content i binge on weekly.

Hope she moves on to bigger and better things
 
That's horrible, Elyse and Ian together were a perfect combo, and Elyse herself is an amazing person...

I love GT, it seems they're getting better and better with their coverage and shows... yet they keep losing people, the world is so unfair.

I felt that Elyse could keep the boys in check but also leave them a bit bamboozled with her quick wit and sense of humour.

She'll be a massive miss for GT in general.

Looking forward to seeing what she does next though, good luck and all that :)
 
That's too bad, she and Ian made such an awesome team on ManUps. I also really enjoyed her and Huber's Recently Played's of Life is Strange. Wherever she's going after this, all the best to her. The Gametrailers crew will be poorer for her absence.
 
A huge loss. Especially if she's being absorbed into the Rooster Teeth mothership since I really dont care for any of that cak. Same with Smosh.

GT is essentially the only games media I consume any more and its getting really hard to watch their numbers continue to thin still, even if this was her decision and not some cutbacks.
 
I get the feeling GT is going away soon, they keep getting shuffled off into smaller and smaller areas. There latest office looks like its the size of my bedroom.

Hope I'm wrong.
 
That sucks. I love the content GT produces and Elyse anyways displayed a genuine interest in games and the culture. I feel like GT needs another female staffer now?

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see where she goes...
 
One of the few people I like on gt. I wonder if this is a simple career move or if there is some shade in the background.

Always felt GT has had the best group of people, and really they are the only gaming related group I have followed religiously for almost a decade now. Glad she found a new place to call home, and hope the GT guys can find another voice to fill the void she left behind. GT seems like the only level headed and entertaining voice in a sea of screaming youtubers and pessimistic gamers.

That's a great way to put it. It's hard to find enthusiasts nowadays that are as earnestly enthusiastic. GL Elyse, you will be missed.

That's been going on for a while they lost a sizeable chunk of their senior staff when viacom sold them to defy media.
 
We lost Elyse Willems. And it feels like somebody took our heart, and dropped it into a bucket of boiling tears. And, at the same time, somebody else is hitting our soul in the crotch with a frozen sledgehammer. And then, a third guy walks in and starts punching us in the grief bone. And we're crying, and nobody can hear us. Because we are terribly, terribly, terribly alone.

Her contribution to Mandatory Update has been phenomenal. It'll be sad to see her leave this week. But it goes on. Remember the episode where Ian went crazy and made an episode by himself?? Probably my fav episode of them all.
 
The last episode of The Final Bosman is going to be extra depressing, because I know it's going to be about Bosman winning Scrumbers.
 
Honestly, if GT ever went under I would have to stop following games media because they're the only site left with enjoyable content AND likable personalities. Good news is this wasn't a lay off, Elyse leaving was her decision. But when I first read the news my heart really did sink. I hope they get into a healthier position after the move and new site design and can hire a few new people.

Ah that sucks. I like Elyse and the personality she brought to Gametrailers. It all seemed like a great dynamic of fun people. She's one of the reasons I've taken a liking to GT so much in the last year.

Well good luck, I guess and the rest of GT will have to pick up the slack.
 
Aw, that sucks. Gametrailers has been in a delicate balance of excellence in the past few months. But it's been clear the demise of the site is coming closer and closer, they seem to just be downsizing more and more.
 
Damn. GAF and GT are my primary sources of gaming info and discussion these days. It sucks to see a part of the team leaving. Good luck to you Elyse!
 
Wow. Incredibly sad day. GT is far and away the best group of gaming commentators and Elyse added a refreshing perspective and sense of humor. Any one of the GT crew leaving would be a huge loss but Elyse is particularly talented. Her writing and delivery on Mandatory Update was always brilliant.

There were so many times on Mandatory Update or random streams where she would say something off the cuff that I would almost miss but ended up making me laugh out loud. She really was the funniest GT staff member, especially with improv. Good luck Elyse!! You will be greatly missed.

They seemed pretty adamant that this has nothing to do with GT downsizing or anything like that. Everyone seems super cool and happy about it.
 
She and Ian were hilarious together on Mandatory Update. Sad to see her go, but wishing her luck with whatever she is doing next!

Yeah, I don't necessarily mean she was laid off. i just figure she didn't see a super long future in GT, so had been keeping her ear to the ground. I would assume (and hope) all of them are doing the same, just for sheer job security.
