Elyse leaves Gametrailers

Always felt like GT was the best place for people who played games in their spare time for fun and avoided chasing after "gamer" market. Just very laid back, generally excited about announcements, gave very straight forward and informed reviews and was willing to point out issues in the industry without pretending like it was the end of gaming as we know it.

There's been some murmurings about her joining the Funhaus crew. Someone on Reddit let their speculation run wild but it does seem like a reasonable outcome for where she'll end up next. It's also somewhat supported by the fact that the Funhaus crew seemed interested in the idea.

Wow that fucking sucks. Elyse is amazing she really brings something to the group. And she's like the only female on staff seemingly. And this KILLS mandatory update she makes that show. And I was just starting to really enjoy mandatory update nights...

Wait I actually really care about this wtf. Why is this happening?!

Damn... hate seeing one of the few staff members to survive the transition to Defy just to land up leaving after just a little over a year.

It's a little worrying with Bosman losing his set... losing Damiani... now Elyse. Defy doesn't even list GT on their brands page- http://www.defymedia.com/our-brands/

I hate to see them slowly die like this... but at least we'll always have the double jump.

Jesus, this is heartbreaking. The chemistry she and Ian had was unique and refreshing, Mandatory Update felt like it had found once again it's new stride after moving and shifting once more. Plus on GT Time, hell all the bonus bits, and we can't forget the Battle of the Bands!

I wish her well in her future endeavours, but Elyse was one of a kind and will I will thoroughly miss her.

I hope Ian takes this well, but I also worry about the stake of his own on air time.

Not to be a downer, but you're right. Wasn't until I went back to check something that the meaning of this shot hit me:

Yeah... they are downsizing. It is rather sad to see as I have grown fond of this group. Good luck to Elyse.

Yeah, they're just a group of enthusiasts talking about a hobby they love.
Like if a bunch of cool gaffers made a site :p

Love them all, and it sucks to see Elyse go, hope her new job works out well for her.

We're not downsizing. Downsizing is when people get laid off. That's not happening right now.

In terms of the space, people are overreacting a bit for sure. Maybe it will come across better in a larger tour video, but the new bullpen's not that different from the cubicles they were in before. It's just in a separate room rather than an open area. So we don't have to worry (as much) about debates echoing over all Defy's offices or people walking by and seeing us play games pre-release.

My office and Brandon's office are roughly the same size as before. Ian and Don's bay is significantly larger, and the studio is about twice as large. (Don't let Bosman's shots fool you.) This building also has a faster network, better parking, and better food options. You really don't need to worry.

I guess we can't get anything more official than this. That's good to hear that you guys are getting a little more room to work with. But that one cramped office just looks so depressing on camera. So does Bosman's grubby ass wall.

Good to hear. Ever since Bosman's set was replaced, I've been worried about you guys.

That streak on the wall to the left of the screen on Bosman's set most definitely was noticed and Kyle absolutely was like..

"No...... leave it in."

I'll believe my good man Blood and not worry too much about my hands down favorite gaming channel/crew too much... but before I put my fears to rest i just wanna post this

I guess I can calm down then. Good to hear you guys are doing great! You provide me with my favorite games podcast, show and reviews. Keep up the amazing work!

Awww man that sucks.
Their team is rather small so every person leaving feels like a big loss.

I'll miss seeing her on GT, specially alongside Ian, but I wish her the best in whatever she decides to do now

Best of luck to Elyse in whatever she chooses to do.

That is good news. I suppose it is easy to start reading into things.

I don't read or watch many sites these days but I do enjoy several of the shows on Gametrailers because of the people involved and the format they follow. It is sad to see faces leaving but there is still a great team there.

Sucks that this is happening, will miss Mandatory Update and her appearances on GT Time.

Hopefully she's staying in the industry and moving somewhere good.

It's going to feel weird without her. I was introduced to her when she screwed Bossman's bets at E3 2014 with the no double jump.

Their Sony E3 conference is still one of my favorite moments this year.

:|

I hope not. Funhaus is exactly that hyper active "WE'RE SHOUTING BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET THE ATTENTION OF THEM YOUTUBE KIDDIES"-crap I hate.

That's been going on for a while they lost a sizeable chunk of their senior staff when viacom sold them to defy media.

I remember about that. But I meant family as in Kyle, Huber, Ian, Elyse, and the others, aside from Damiani who moved before he was fired (I think?). But yeah, those laid offs were sad as well.

Really gonna miss Elyse. She's a really huge part of what I enjoy from GT, and it makes me sad that it won't be the same moving forward. I really feel like ManUps was hitting its stride, too.

Best of luck, Elyse!

SEE YAH IN THE FUNNY PAGES!

:'(

I feel like they both nearly cried in ManUps, then I nearly cried. Then Maggie laughed, she's such a little trooper...

Despite everything that happened at GT recently it still seems to be a sinking ship :(

Hope I´m wrong of course - GT is one of my favorite sites, but I get the feeling that there isn´t a lot of confidence that it will go on for much longer.

I assume Elyse is changing sides and going to a dev/publisher for more job security.

All the best to you, Elyse.
