The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
According to reports Eminem's latest LP "Encore" will probably be his last release & that Em will retire from the mic in Sept. to focus on producing. Em's manager Paul Rosenberg told the Detroit Free Press that an official decision has not been made, but the multi-platinum "Encore" LP is "certainly the cap on this part of his career."

This really isn't surprising to me... the whole vibe and look of the last album Encore kinda had me thinking that was it for him.... IMO the Eminem personality has lost it's ability to shock and surprise us... so yeah... focus on producing, drop a few lines in D12's future stuff and other people...and just chill.

Good. Nasty at freestylin...shitty song writer.

I expect the suicide rate among white kids to go up.

What's really sad about this isn't the fact that Em is retiring, is the fact that he's retiring to focus on producing which he absolutely sucks at.

You couldn't be any further from reality.

How about not? Stan was the best song he ever did. Encore was straight garbage and make a quick pay day off of it.

And to the guy saying hip-hop would die because of him shows his ignorance towards the genre.

I will never understand the concept of popular musicians retiring? It's not like they have a 9-to-5 job or anything. If you don't feel inspired enough to write anymore music or perform or whatever, that's fine. What's the purpose in making some sort of official announcement?

Seriously, it's the only artistic medium in the world where the artist can announce retirement and have everyone expect it.

Please tell me you are not basing your opinion of his freestyle and rhyming ability off his commerical stuff?

Eminem is dead yes....didn't you hear the end of Encore?

Marshall is alive and so is Slim Shady.

He's going to be back in a different form with a new character so he doesn't have to rap about his mom or kids anymore.

sorry, i dont listen to fuck wit commercial music. I've been listening to him freestyle underground before you guys jumped on his dick for 8 mile.

Just because im black dont think im going at his neck...because im not. His freestyles are just leagues above his *commercial* written shit. And thats a fact.

I'm amazed at people that are so quick to criticize someone else. Let's see you do better.

Lets see you come with a better argument. Whos criticizing? I complemented him on his freestyling, which he is undoubtely the one of the best. But when it comes to song writing he is horrible.

Maybe its just me, but Em's freestyling is the weakest thing of what he does. His written shit is far better than anything he does freestyling. The thing is that he also writes a TON of awful, awful shit, too. IMO he does his best when he's rapping with other people who are respected, like he did with Hova or Reggie Noble. That song he did with Redman was fucking SICK (Probably got a fanatic waitin upstairs/ in the attic/ with an automatic/ callin me up there/ my man Stan/ wit a gat in his hand/ stakin my house out in a tan, tinted sedan/ blow ya mouth out til ya cant finish ya damn/ ham sandwich or yer canned spinach or spam/). Cleaning out my Closet was also a very well written song. Even his dis songs are usually well written. Nail in the coffin:
i would never claim to be no/
Ray benzino/
an 83 year old fake pacino/
so how can he hold me/
over some balcony/
without throwin his lower back out/
as soon as he goes to lift me/
please dont-- you'll probably fall with me/
then our asses would both be history/
then again you'd finally get your wish/
cuz you'd be all over the street like 50 Cent

but the thing with him is that for every amazingly written song he does, he goes and makes 3 or 4 that are total pieces of shit.

Personally, I really, REALLY hope he doesn't go out on Encore, which I thought was a godawful album. I seriously bought it, listened to 3/4ths of it, took it out and gave it to my sister. I mean, I really pray that going out on a Triumph The Comic Insult Dog impersonation is not what he wants to do.

Yeah Encore was a huge dissapointment. There were maybe 3-4 good songs on the whole album. I think a good idea would be to make one last album more in the style of his earlier work. IMO The Eminem Show kicked ass, i still listin to it today along with the Marshall Mathers LP. At least trying to go out on top>>>>>Leaving a stinker like this as your last hurra.

Aren't we the one to make assumptions? Who ever's dick YOU're on, you need to get off now because you sound like fucking ass.

And yes, he is sick at freestyle, and you agree. Why say "good" about him retiring then?

"Encore" showed that he doesn't have any material left. He's made so much money he can't really bitch about anything anymore, what's left death and taxes. I don't think anybody cares about his messed up family anymore. His anti-Bush stuff and toilet humor was brutal. His crackbacks will always be great and he's proven himself several times over in the past but he's reached 14:59.

Might as well. Not that he lost his edge or anything, he jus wasn't trying anymore. After you earn a certain amount and are secure, what motivation is there? He clearly doesn't need the money, and can no longer have legit beef against the silverspooners since he's now a crybaby celeb himself. Oh well, if he can do high-quality cameos, like Jay-Z's trying to do from here on out, it will be fine. He's still great on the mic, IMO. But his last two albums were suckola. His first was his best, and his second was great. But other than that, he's been garbage. And his production style is repetitive. I think it's more of a West Coast flavor, though, which might be why I don't really get it. Some of it has been tight though. PEACE.

Seeing as how "The Slim Shady LP" came out in '99, I would say it was a bit longer than 15 minutes.

Also, Encore was horrible, but I found that "The Marshall Mathers LP" had alot of good tracks on it, like "Who Knew?", "Marshall Mathers", and "Bitch Please II". Seems so long ago though. His underground shit is the only reason I still follow(ed) him.

Because he doesnt even try anymore...plain and simple. I've heard his new freestyles off the AMT mixtape, and its such a step below of what hes capable of doing, it pissed me off.

And stop crying...Did i upset with the "get off his dick" comment? I see i hit a nerve.

Yeah some of his freestyles are pretty weak nowadays, but sometimes he still manages to impress me.

:lol Bitch please.

Well this news has just about outlived its interest. Turning to news of more importance:

MF Doom, Dangermouse Team Up For 'DangerDoom'

WERD!

Two of the underground's favorite sons, Danger Mouse and MF Doom, have come together to release a collaborative effort titled DANGERDOOM: The Mouse and the Mask.

The album was inspired by the Cartoon Network's series of late-night animated shows known as Adult Swim. And according to Epitaph Records president Andy Kaulkin - who is releasing the project - the mix of different ingredients has turned into a delectable offering.

"Danger Mouse and Doom are both brilliant at taking chunks of pop culture and reshaping them into art. The context of Adult Swim makes this already promising collaboration truly inspired," Kaulkin said.

DANGERDOOM will feature skits and voices from Adult Swim's popular shows, as well as special appearances by Ghostface, Cee-Lo and Talib Kweli.

The album is slated to drop on October 11th on Epitaph Records.

Yes sir. It was coming out I think earlier this month but it got leaked so they've added a couple of tracks much like what Jeezy did.

I agree. His guest appearences are the best. The way his style in rhyming always goes hand in hand with the theme of the song is amazing. I think Eminem is the most creative rapper out there today. I just think he blocks himself when writing for himself. It all has to end up in some personal mess. Though some really good songs came from the personal stuff I really enjoy his other stuff more.

Well I have been listening to his underground shit way before 8 mile too. I'm with the majority in this thread in that fact that when Em tries his one of the best out there, but he's been slacking alot particulary on his last 2 albums. I mean some of his early stuff is just sick and you can't forget how he murdered Jay Z on Renegade.
