Square Enix Japan has just announced that their Engage Kill mobile game will officially end service on March 21st, 2024, barely a year after the game launched on March 1, 2023 in Japan, with a global version never coming West.

As of December 27, 2023, sales of Orgonium, the currency used in-game, have been suspended, though players can still spend any that are currently held until the shutdown date. Furthermore, in accordance with Japanese law, a refund window for unused paid in-game currency will open after the servers close.
If you didn’t know, Engage Kill was a mobile game that was part of a Japanese mixed-media project created by Aniplex, titled Project Engage, which consisted of an anime that aired July to September 2022, earning a 6.82 score on MyAnimeList, and a mobile game by Square Enix in March 2023.

The story takes place in Bayron City, a pioneering metropolis built on a newly discovered energy source, promising every citizen a luxurious and comfortable lifestyle. The anime follows protagonist Shuu Ogata, who despite running a private military business, often struggles to make ends meet due to reckless expenses. Meanwhile, the mobile game featured a new original character as one of the main characters, named Chloe Tang, and a new story that took place in the same universe as the anime.

Mobile game is put on the chopping block and nobody cares. Some may even point and laugh.
A 'real' game gets delisted after license runs out and everyone: "ThIs iS tHE dIGiTaL fuTUrE"!

I don't see why you're having such an issue being able to diffrenciate a "real" game from a slot machine.

it's a bit like how no one cares when a drug dealer gets shot vs a child, both human, seperate value attributed. Mockery is normal for when something of no value is lost vs something with value.
