Trailer

Been looking forward to this for a while, stole the show for me at the PCgamer E3 show last year.

Appears to be hitting the platforms at the same time, April 5th.

No Vita version makes me sad 😞 Happened with Galak-Z and Broforce and now with this one. it's a shame since it's the perfect device for this kind of games.

Don't want to open the can of worms that comes with a promising looking indie coming out on the first Tuesday of the month on PS4, but I'm in either way.

Is it 60 dollars ;)

Jk I've been really looking forward to this ever since I saw northernlion play it. Looks like nuclear throne meet binding of Isaac and those are two of my favorite games.

Beyond pumped :)

If anyone is in London next Friday (11th) they'll be hosting Enter the Gungeon at Loading in Dalston from, like, 10-5 as well.

This seems very similar to nuclear throne, other than some of it looking a little more bullet-hellish. Can anyone explain what really sets the two apart?

Been on my wishlist for a long time. Glad it's coming soon. That's like 3 sick ass indie-ish games in a short while. Slain!, Alienation, and this.

One of the indie games I've been looking forward to this year other than stardew Valley and Eitr (some I'm probably forgetting) It's been a great year for indie releases thus far

This looks insanely fun! This and Salt & Sanctuary are the indies I've been looking forward to hearing more about.

I played a good chunk of it during Gamescom and enjoyed it a lot. Kinda liked it more than Nuclear Throne.
What really caught my eye is the huge variety in the weapons. Each one of the hundreds (is there a final count?) has a somewhat different play style.

Was actually playing both BoI and Throne recently, and this looks like the best of both. The crazy items and weird enemies of Isaac, the satisfying combat and bullet hell nature of Throne. But this seems more like it has a more measured pace and tighter controls than Throne. Plus you have the three weapon loadout, should allow for more strategy

Think I'll go simple with the OT title

Enter The Gungeon |OT| Guns. Lots of guns.

Any good quotes from fantasy movies or books? Also thinking of a gun-themed twist on the "sword, bow, axe" line from LOTR

Yeah that sounds about right. Nuclear Throne was almost all I wanted out of this kinda game, but I feel like Gungeon will really nail it.

Could this be a part of April's PS+ free game selection?

We already know Dead Star is the PS4 PS Plus title, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Is there any progression? I tend to really like feeling that even my bad runs are contributing to something.

Yes.
One of the developers talked a bit about the meta progression:
One additional thing that I will mention about gungeon, is that the dungeons are proceddurally generated, but they aren't random. There are things that will be integrated into a dungeon's generation BECAUSE of things you've done in the past- and this is important for the player's meta progression. As an example, there is a special quest you can kick off by finding a secret early in the game, which will place a special boss on one of the later levels until you beat him. If you didn't find the secret, that boss will not be included in the generation. There are a number of things like this, and because of that diferent player's dungeons as a rule are going to generate differently. We think that this adds some story and weight to the dungeon runs, but it also means that seeds work differently in our game by default than other similar games. To do a weekly/daily feature right, we would need to exclude all of that player progression meta from the dungeons generated for that mode. That is absolutely something that we can do and figure out, but its just a matter of doing it *right.* And for now, getting the base game *right* is our biggest concern.
