Why not. Fortnite literally has giant pop concerts and interactive music video events. Seems fitting.![]()
Appears they will be making Fortnite content.
A lot of people here don't play or follow Fortnite, so you'll have to forgive the shitpost hot takes. Why not. Fortnite literally has giant pop concerts and interactive music video events. Seems fitting.
Didn't say it wasn't fitting but its terrible to see an entire studio being consolidated into a single game. Why not. Fortnite literally has giant pop concerts and interactive music video events. Seems fitting.
Oh please. Consolidation is not a good thing in the industry.A lot of people here don't play or follow Fortnite, so you'll have to forgive the shitpost hot takes.
If by any chance we get some new instruments that would be fantastic.I still play Rock Band 4 on the regular. I guess this just means the DLC will probably dry up. And the dream of Rock Band 5 is probably dead.
Tell me about it...If by any chance we get some new instruments that would be fantastic.
Yup me and my gf actually really enjoy that one.I got Super Beat Sports for $10 several years ago. Pretty good game.
That's about it for me and this company's entire history.
Its insane. I have one working guitar and I am afraid to play with it! Once its gone my game is basically useless.Tell me about it...

Buying a new Rock Band guitar can be more expensive than buying an actual guitar now
So I'll admit, I'm still a fan of Rock Band and still play the game on my PS4 2-3 hours every Friday night and have for years. I know a lot of people don't play this game much any more and it's essentially on life support from Harmonix mostly catering heavily to the few people who still play...www.neogaf.com
This was me, in 2019. Thankfully I still have a working guitar. But I know it's days are probably numbered.
I think it's possible to understand how this is a good fit for Fortnite and most likely saved Harmonix from bankruptcy but still be sad that this is basically the end of a once beloved developer.A lot of people here don't play or follow Fortnite, so you'll have to forgive the shitpost hot takes.

What does this mean for Rock Band DLC?
Nothing. We'll be continuing on with our existing DLC plans… and there are lots of great tracks coming as we wrap up 2021 and push into next year!
I'd say that game streaming and "let's play" videos are what killed the genre. You can't monetize Rock Band videos on any platform like Youtube because all of the music is copyrighted. What i wish this meant: A new Rockband with quality instruments and a way to keep all dlc purchased, with more customization, etc.
The reality of it though...the flood of guitar hero games actively killed that type of music game being unique and popular.
Nah it was definitely the market being flooded with like 3+ guitar hero games per year, and the bulky, expensive peripherals. I myself loved guitar hero and rock band, still play Rock Band to this day and even just bought a flash electronic drum kit to use with my Midi Pro Adapter + Legacy Adapter, but they just put out too much too close together. Didn't help when 2 companies started releasing competing games.I'd say that game streaming and "let's play" videos are what killed the genre. For me personally, I still think it's a great party game or it's just fun to jam out to my favorite songs - but the landscape of gaming has had a pretty fundamental shift since these games were popular, and I don't think there's really a way to bring them back in any meaningful way on modern systems.
I could probably sell all my stuff for a fortune haha. I've still got them all - I've got 2 Guitar Hero 2 guitars, 2 Guitar Hero 3 guitars (one with the faceplate signed by all the members of DragonForce!, one unopened in box), 1 Rock Band Guitar, 1 Rock Band 3 Pro Drum Kit, 1 Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar, 1 Guitar Hero Metallica Guitar, 1 Rock Band 4 Drum Kit + Pro Cymbal Kit (both unopened, bought as a backup for the RB3 kit), 1 RB3 Midi Pro Adapter + 1 Rock Band Legacy Adapter (these are both worth a tonne of money now by the looks of it).Its insane. I have one working guitar and I am afraid to play with it! Once its gone my game is basically useless.
Speaking of which... I should probably try it at least once. Still haven't played a single battle royal, lol.A lot of people here don't play or follow Fortnite, so you'll have to forgive the shitpost hot takes.
Anything for last gen is quite high as they didn't do a ton of runs.Nah it was definitely the market being flooded with like 3+ guitar hero games per year, and the bulky, expensive peripherals. Now they're making music stuff for Fortnite. Ugh.

I've seen the Legacy Adapter listed for like AUD$1000 on ebay and the likes lol. I don't know how the hell I managed to snag one, must have just checked the PDP (iirc) site at the exact right time hahaAnything for last gen is quite high as they didn't do a ton of runs.
It died before all of that was really the norm. They just way overshot the trajectory of the genre, over-saturated it, and at the same time spent a fortune acquiring licenses for shit like The Beatles that nobody cared about.I'd say that game streaming and "let's play" videos are what killed the genre. I know the game didn't sell well but c'monIt died before all of that was really the norm. They just way overshot the trajectory of the genre, over-saturated it, and at the same time spent a fortune acquiring licenses for shit like The Beatles that nobody cared about.
Shit was pretty wild really lol
Hindsight is 20/20 on that one. I told myself I would get one on a sale. OopsI've seen the Legacy Adapter listed for like AUD$1000 on ebay and the likes lol. I don't know how the hell I managed to snag one, must have just checked the PDP (iirc) site at the exact right time haha
They put out a new game recently lolWow, I didn't realize they were still around.

Yeah that's how I remember it going down. Activision went absolutely ham over a two year period with new releases like Guitar Hero World Tour, GH5, Metallica, Van Halen and a few others. Oh AND they introduced DJ during that time as well. They killed interest in that genre with a quickness.
