FINALLY!!

"Hello everyone,

I saw that some questions have come up regarding Live Events and I wanted step in and let you guys know what was going on with the Frogloks this month.

1. The update that just went out today included the new Froglok animations, not the rest of the data related to the upcoming quest and live event.

2. The quest to unlock Frogloks is a major event that the team has been working diligently on completing and testing. This event will happen later in the month, and you will see some very big announcements when the event goes Live.

I can see by your posts that some of the NPCs that give out the event quest were released prematurely, and I apologize for that mistake. The event to release the Frogloks cannot be completed at this time, and these NPCs will be deactivated until we announce the release of the event later on this month.

I want to say that I am sorry for the additional confusion this has caused everyone. When the event is about to go live, we will make sure to announce it clearly so that everyone is aware of it and can participate in freeing the noble children of Marr.

Thank you again for your patience.

I really want a Froglok Monk, but a Froglok Bard could be cool also.

Frooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaak

I can't believe it took this long. =P I was always under the assumption that people would be unlocking the event within the first month of launch.

It'll probably be a huge server-wide event like the recent plague.

The Ratongas were spreading this plague. When you got the plague you spread it to players and NPCs that got too close to you (unless you were a Rat, who are immune). Priests could heal it, but it required a long quest by the server to cure everyone. It was just recently cured on my server so it's not an issue anymore.

Yeah, the plague was cool. People would catch it and go stand next to someone until they caught it. But when you had it you looked like pea soup so people would avoid getting too close to you so they couldn't catch it. It wouldn't do anything bad, you'd just emote puking and scratching a lot.

I'm playing some of the new quest paths they've added right now and am working on the ones in Enchanted Lands since you need to kill Fairies for it and I'm working on the Fairy language quest so it works out well.

Not being sarcastic/trolling: could someone PLEASE explain to me why Frogloks are interesting/cool? To someone who has never played Everquest, they just look like retarded frog people that make a stupid sound, yet everytime Frogloks show up in-game or as a playable race or whatever, EQ fans just go nuts. Why!

Okay, thank you for confirming my suspicions that there's not actually anything cool or interesting about them.

They're super religious and noble! That's pretty cool, considering they are frog-people.

Frog in Chrono Trigger is one of the worst fucking characters ever. Guh.

I've never actually played chrono trigger far enough in to have him in the party, but I felt i'd offer the comparison :P

I dunno, I don't care one way or another but another playable race is a welcome touch. (even though it should have been in from the beginning)

Because they do flips when they cast a spell.

The hilarious thing is this is the number 1 reason most EQ players will cite as to why frogloks are cool.

EQ players wanted playable frogloks for years + years, least the initial reaction upon seeing a froglok for the first time for most people use to be "damn that would be so cool if I could flip while casting a spell".

More:

We know that many of you have been anxiously awaiting the chance to play a froglok character. As we announced before launch, we decided to tie the availability of the frogloks into a major game-changing event. Since some of you have been searching for clues about how to unlock the froglok race, we wanted to provide an update on their availability and pass along a bit of insider info on what's about to come.

After making the decision to hold back the frogloks at launch, we gave our art team some extra time to enhance their animations and armor appearances. Since frogloks are the most distinct race from a physical perspective, they require handcrafted animations to take full advantage of their unique characteristics. To accomplish this, we decided to delay them a bit longer so we could release them in the most polished manner possible.

This also gave our Live Events team the chance to plan something really cool for their unveiling. I'm pleased to report that the live event for May is going to be the unleashing of the frogloks!

Players will be able to complete solo quests that allow them to play froglok characters on their own EverQuest II account. Unlocking the race for the whole server will involve the completion of an elaborate series of quests that culminate in an epic raid zone event that will challenge even the most seasoned adventurers. This is your chance to defeat the evil force that has kept the froglok spirit imprisoned for so long.

As part of Live Update #8, scheduled to hit the live servers the week of May 2, players will be receiving new animation files for the frogloks. This will kickoff the beginning of the froglok live event.

We realize some of you froglok fans out there would have preferred to receive this information sooner, but we decided to stay quiet until the Live Events team had finished their planning. We think the wait will be worth it, and players will have a lot of fun participating in this major event.
