Eternal Field...

So, there I was, checking out the TRU 90% off sale and finding virtually nothing of interest when I spotted a copy of the oft-slammed launch title Eternal Ring. I decide that, for 50 cents or so, I may as well give it a try. Afterall, I enjoyed Kings Field II back on the PSX...

I've heard almost nothing positive about this game since the day it was released, but I was curious to give a try regardless. So, for the last two nights, I've found myself playing Eternal Ring and actually having fun. What the hell? It feels like I'm playing another Kings Field game here and it really isn't half bad.

So, I'm wondering...

For those that actually gave Eternal Ring a shot, did you enjoy it? Is it worth finding Kings Field IV as well?

I love the King's Field series and I loved Eternal Ring... for the short time it lasted :(

It seems like they literally told the programmers to stop development at what should have been the halfway point of the game. It just ends suddenly.

Oh, and King's Field IV is definitely worth getting if you like the series.

I like King's Field, though I didn't like Eternal Ring that much, but there was fun to be had. However, King's Field 4 is MUCH better, and if you like ER, you'll love that. Eternal Ring was supposedly made as a prototype KF game for the new generation. I think it turned out much better than Evergrace. :p

I liked Eternal Ring a lot, although it suffers from the same complaint I've had about every one of the KF games since the first-- it's pretty easy.

I liked the first KF (using US naming-- I know that there was a KF1 in Japan that predates it) a lot, the second one somewhat less, the Eternal Ring a little more than KF2. The PS2 KF bored me silly, though.

So, yeah, it's good. And I did actually pimp it a bit as a "good" launch game back when people said there were "no good launch games" for the PS2.

Be careful of those first steps you make in KF4...

Those things are the reason I love KF games.

Yeah, I really liked Eternal Ring as well. Paid full price at launch and didn't feel cheated in the least. Well worth grabbing KF4, it's wonderful, and since you liked KF2, I'm sure you'll like KF4.

While we are on the subject, dont forget Shadow Tower and Shadow Tower Abyss.

Im still bitter about Sony 3rd party eval rejecting Abyss.

Hmm, there used to be an import copy of Shadow Tower Abyss floating around a Gamestop here. I doubt it's still there, but I know it sat around for years. :P

Should have grabbed it...

ER rules! It made my ps2 launch glorious for sure! I think it could not be named King Field because it didnt have all bugs to go with it :lol Spooky, often freaking me out when playing at nights it had quite the atmosphere. One boss later in game with his mad screaming out of nowhere nearly gave me heart attack. I love to see them do another of this caliber, controls still amatuerish were easily adaptable with some time. Last KF I could only play for 4hrs before complete disgust at its bugs and lack of rudimetry controls.
