What a shitty deal, can't believe I kept checking this thread at work expecting something half decent for once.

Luckily I didn't buy that many games from the store in the last couple of months. So I#M glad to get Sonic 2 for free.

this will include 8 PSN titles, two minis and two PSone Classics

Can't wait for the rest.

It's like they're completely oblivious to Steam sales and stuff. Any retail title should be £15 at the most if they want a tempting impulse buy.

And I noticed Deus Ex: HR is up on the store for £39.99 too. This is months after release and the game can be bought for a tenner online so I don't see how it's about appeasing retailers. I know the publisher sets the price but when games are priced £40 (or even £47.99 in the case of Rayman Origins) I don't know who they expect to buy them when it can be easily bought elsewhere for a cheaper price.

It's growing pains for sure. Once more and more retail titles arrive on the store, then publishers will start to see that their staggeringly idiotic price points aren't helping them in the slightest. Eventually, they'll probably notice, but for now just don't buy games like Driver for £47.99

Hint: Battlefield 3 is on there for £50 and has nearly 1000 ratings.

The Plus deals:

"These 12 titles have all been available in Plus before over the last 18 months, and so are perfect for new subscribers or those who have joined recently"

So yeah....:|

That free Jurassic Park with a Plus subscription would be really nice right now for new subscribers. But as usual, the deal will be late for us.

damn.. sucks to be a loyal +´er then..

Idiots are everywhere, no surprise. :|

hmmm... not everyone lives in the UK or USA.. somebody lives on far off Islands and some countries where Disc version cost ALOT.. take your example Battlefield 3. It costs 699 danish kroner up here in the shops, but it only costs 599,- on the PSN Store (and even less if we buy from foreign PSN stores with PSN cards)..

Taxes and stupid extra costs (freight etc.) makes the games ALOT more expensive in the retail shops in many countries..

That's meaningless though. They're comparing the prices in UK stores with the prices on the UK PSN store... and they're ridiculous.

Great if it works for you, but it sounds to me like you're just getting screwed both at retail AND on digital sales.

That's insane, I had no idea it was this bad in other countries. Btw, I was mostly referring to my country. BF3 is €69 in the PS Store here, yet you can easily find it in retail stores for €55 or less.

don´t worry I know I´m getting screwed.. but I get my games from friends and family that are living in countries with better prices.. I also do some freelance writing for a gaming magazine, and get some games to test that way.

Bought BGE, POP(the other one, pretty good) and original Rayman.

Rayman...dat nostalgia.

Still thinking about POP trilogy and Splinter Cell pack.

What do you reckon the chances of Pixeljunk Sidescroller being in here are? I want it, but I'll be annoyed if I bite and then it drops.

I don't get this. During the autumn sale on Steam, you could get pretty much any retail game they put up for cheaper elsewhere, as well. Same goes for new games, Steam is, afaik, always more expensive than retail.

Dd prices on consoles are beyond ridiculous.. 70 euro for halo reach? Lol

Where can I get Fallout NV or Mass Effect 2 for under $5?

New releases never get heavily discounted on Steam, but games that are older are so ridiculously cheap. The most you can hope for a retail game on PSN is a 30% discount.

it's the publisher who decides the price, not Sony as they have stated several times in the blog :P
Maybe they will sell at those prices.

And as for new titles etc. wasn't there some ruckus on that if they would sell games any cheaper on the PSN, then retail chains like Gamestop threatened to stop selling PS3 games or something...

Wow, I thought the LBP2 deal was kinda weak but hoped they were going to get better through the month but this is straight up shit :(

Feel tempted to purchase LittleBigPlanet from the store for £20, I know I can get the game from retailers for around £15, but it's nice to have a game like this in the hardrive.

The publishers do set the prices, but these same publishers also set the prices on Steam. Yet Steam still manages to have ridiculous sales on games that are a few months old - and with indie games, sometimes even newer. Maybe Sony needs to be a bit more persuasive, or copy whatever it is Valve does to get publishers to agree to 50-75% discounts.

I take it from this that you weren't around during the whole PSN shutdown debacle earlier this year, when LBP (and several other full PS3 games) were given away for free to every PS3 owner with a PSN account as an apology for both the downtime and the loss of credit card details.

Sucks that Sony thinks LBP is still worth £20 after that. I would have expected at least LBP2.

Plus, a hard copy will run you £5 at your local CEX. You'd be a fool to buy it off PSN.

After seeing some of the prices available during Steam sale, I honestly think Sony have a cheek calling these "Deals" or even implying that they are on sale.

Worst thing is that they probably aren't going to get any better :(
Spent most of the remaining money in my PSN wallet on a PS+ 3 monther.

How big is Child of Eden on PSN, GB-wise?
Gonna go lurk a shop tomorrow to see if I can find CoE used or for cheap.

Thats what a monopoly does, they can set whatever price they want. On PC, STEAM has competition.

This goes for every place though. Ultimately someone decides the price somewhere, even on Steam. I'm not sure who sets the price on Steam though, if it is Valve themself who take the loss or if it is the publishers who price their PC games cheaper because they want to reach more people on PC. Does anyone know?

Monopoly is also mostly when we talk about one group of product, like if Gamestop was the only store that was allowed to sell games. But with stuff like PS3, there are competitors out there, like Xbox 360, Wii and PC etc. So it isnt monopoly like this just because someone owns the brand. Otherwise there would be tons of monopolies out here, i.e like Coca Cola has monopoly on their cola, and that Pepsi has monopoly on their cola :) (in one way i guess that you can define it like this though, but this isnt how "monopoly" is usually defined). Much of the stuff that are on sale on the PS Store are 3rd party stuff that can be bought other places as well.

I got a AUS$30 PSN card with my online pre-order of Uncharted 3 that I was looking forward to spending this month but so far these sales have been total ass.

Between these crappy deals and Microsoft not doing anything at all, this year's December deals have been terrible compared to last year.
