I got the DVD today, watched up to episode 9, but there's something that was really annoying, episode 7 especially, the image kept moving slightly back and forth and its not my TV or DVD since vol 01 and later episodes of 02 dont have that problem, nor do any other DVDs i own.

Did ADV screw up? Its really freaking annoying.

Its a very slight movement of the image, mostly noticable during scenes without action, the JA's creator conference in episode 7 for example.

Shit youre right. I dont know if this is ADVs fault or it was already like that

If this was ADVs fault, im sure there would already be an uproar at the aod forums though

Yea, im wondering if its ADV's fuck up when remastering it or if the original footage was already shaky and they couldnt fix it, i dont recall seeing that in the original DVDs though, hmmm.

:(

I haven't gotten my copy yet, so I can't check, but...

The frame stuttering has to do with the way Gainax would edit their footage back then. A lot of it was cleaned up for the remaster in Japan (which ADV later used for these current DVDs), but some of it couldn't be fixed, which is probably what you're seeing.

It has nothing to do with the way ADV mastered their video and it's probably going to pop up again.

Pretty much what I thought. I think I even read about this some time ago....

Yeah. It sucks but hey, that's as good as it's going to get. Some of their other shows had the same problem, but I think Eva was the worst.

At least they fixed most of it. The original first episode was really hard to watch becuase the image kept bouncing all over the place.

Oh ok, maybe it was less noticable when it was a blurry mess on the old DVDs

Cant you give more details? That sounded a bit like "Its EA, therefor it sucks", the image and sound quality seemed quite nice to me, and the translation aswell, so whats wrong?
