Since the original thread I made was mainly about EQN and SOE Live, I figured I'd make a new thread for any new EQN Landmark info, and host any discussion and speculation about EQNL.

Any idea how long those Founder's Packs will be available?
Since, I don't have the money for them now, but, when I do, I would definitely be interested (hey, I can't help it - it's EverQuest)

Should be all the way into Alpha and maybe during still to drive more sales!

Disappointed that none of the founder stuff transfers into Next. The armour would be make for a nice skin, at least.

Yeah, but the stuff you build can, and who knows, maybe their stance on the fantasy looking armor might change.

I heard from the grapevine that a small group might be let in at the end of the year.

If they allowed only some people in that purchased trailblazer, that would be stupid. Technically the founder's pack page doesn't mention we'll all get in at the same time, just that we'll receive items before Feb 28. If there are too many people to let in at once, then they should let only trailblazers in first. =p

Maybe it's a "pre-alpha"

It's pre-alpha right now, I believe SOE employees just recently got in, or maybe they're getting in soon. I looked into it more, and it was mentioned that alpha purchasers would be getting in at the same time, but they could let friends/family in as well.

Maybe add a link to the page above the founder's pack image: https://www.eqnlandmark.com/founders-pack

There are mouseover descriptions for the items.

I see they've fixed "Feburary" since that image in the OP, hehe.

Hmmm, don't think I'll buy into this one, will wait for open beta. Too much like a normal F2P transaction for me, I'll save my crowdfund money for other kickstarter style stuff.

Let me try to get this straight. Landmark and Everquest Next are separate games, but use the same locations. In Landmark, players have the ability to build, demolish, and otherwise alter the landscape, and the results that SOE likes the best will be reflected in EQN? Everything I see about EQN and Landmark talks about them both at the same time, so it's kind of hard to tell how this is supposed to work.

No. Landmark is a lot like minecraft or a game engine SDK, you start with an empty/procedural world and you can build whatever you want.

EQN is a directed RPG, though building, mining, and destructible environments will still be a part of it.

They're talked about at the same time because Landmark is practically a public version of the SDK used to make EQN, and SOE will hold contests to create content for EQN within landmark.

Yep you got it! Landmark is essentially Minecraft. EQN proper will be the MMO with all the trappings and such but minecrafty elements built in.

so in landmark, is the idea that you can create your own everquest game? Like you can create quests, enemies, enviornments, etc? or is it just gathering/mining and building?

It's mainly just gathering, mining, crafting and building. No enemies or quests.

Partially. There will be EQ themed continent(s), but the majority of continents you can build whatever you want on them. For launch, it will mostly be about building, exploring, crafting, gathering. But combat will be added shortly after launch or may even make launch, and the other stuff you mentioned will be coming at some point.

There's a video where Dave summarizes EQN as (and I'm slightly paraphrasing) the MMO that SOE will professionally develop using the tools and systems available to people in EQN:L. The phrase "create your own MMO" has been used multiple times. So yes, quest scripting, enemies, PvP and the like will (one day) be available in EQN:L, just not at launch.

Bought the Trailblazer pack myself ;) Can't wait

Always been an EQ guy, even though this is quite different from the previous games

aww yiss

It sounds cool, but I'm not on good terms with SOE how they handled Planetside 2, so I'm afraid to invest my time in this, EQN, or any future SOE product.

Everything about this just seems really scummy. It's happened before and it'll happen again a "small group" will be allowed in early regardless and isn't this game going to use micro transactions with no monthly fee? See that bridge over there with the goblin? You can smash it! For $1.99. See that mountain? You can climb it, for $2.99. I guess if you started with Everquest or WoW you'd probably be excited for a game like this. But if you started with Ultima Online you've seen and known different. So you know better.

Trailblazers and Settlers will be getting in at the same time for alpha. Yes, there will be micro-transactions (SOE is a F2P company), but there will also be an optional monthly subscription. SOE is doing something soon that gives sub access to all of their games for $14.99 a month (down from $20, and less if 3/6/12 months are purchased at once).

Off topic I know but is Ashodin the guy that flew across the country for a girl online...which led to an amazing thread?

This is a problem I have with F2P games, but that's another topic completely.

I'll be sure to set something up, yeah.

Since Alpha should be starting up soon, maybe we should start getting a list together to see who actually purchased Alpha/beta access.

Alpha for me. Also, I plan on mostly being an explorer & crafter, looking for resources, recipes, etc. I'll build, but I mostly enjoy exploring in games.

Sounds like a great idea, actually. If any of you have bought the Alpha/Beta for EQNL, please post which one you have, and I'll add you to a growing list. Thanks!

I've got Alpha.

The public debut is set for January 31st. So, Alpha purchasers should be (will be) getting in before then.

Game looks cool, but Im kinda afraid of all the attention towards the building stuff... I dont even know if I like that since I dont play Minecraft/Terraria. Hope they dont screw this up =/
