EVERY comic book movie ever made?

This is something I've been thinking about for a while now... I wanna try and make a list of every comic book movie Hollywood has ever made. And I'm not just talking about the obvious stuff, like Spider-Man, and Batman, and Superman, and X-Men, etc etc...

I mean EVERY comic book movie.
eek.gif

Obscure stuff that almost everyone's forgotten, like Tank Girl and Flash Gordon. Movies most people don't associate with comic books for various reasons, like MiB and TMNT. Movies that don't fit the traditional comic book movie mold, like Road to Perdition and Ghost World. Even crap like Howard the Duck.

ALL of them.

So who'd like to start? Let's get all of the easy ones out of the way first. :)

(BTW, if there's an actual complete listing of every comic book movie out there on the internet, then great. A link saves everyone a lot of time.)

I'll throw out some to start:

From Hell
Ghost World
Road to Perdition
League of Extraordinary Gentelmen

Superman 1-IV
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman and Ron

X-Men
X2: X-Men United

Spider-Man 1 and 2

The Crow
The Rocketeer
The Mask
Men in Black 1 and 2

Two series, actually.

I know about the two TV movies in 79, and... WOW there were movies in 64, 66 and a one in 44? Geez.

I don't know if you want to include other super hero movies like Meteor Man or Blank Man.

If we include manga this could get long.

Mystery Men is very, very, very loosely based on a comic. But it was!

If we do SUper-Hero movies that weren't comics, it could be painful.

Also:

Fritz the Cat 70s
Heavy Metal 80s
Popeye 80s
Dennis the Meanace 80s

... comic strips makes this a much, much longer list. Flash Gordon was a comic strip, for instance, but there were also Blondie and Dagwood movies (the details I do now know).

Yow. I knew there were a few of these, but I had no idea!

Well since no one said it, and I think it counts

Batman: The Movie
The one with Adam West

Batman: Mask of the Phatasm
Batman: Subzero
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
Batman/Superman: World's Finest

Those count, right?

Don't think I saw these yet.

Barbarella (1968)
Cemetery Man (1994)
City Hunter (1993)
Creepshow (1982)
Crumb (1994)
The Fifth Element (1997)
The Mask (1994)?
Men in Black (1997)
Howard the Duck (1986)
Josie and the Pussycats (2002)

Oh, those Blondies are full-length, too. 70 minutes.

Also:

A Boy Named Charlie Brown
Snoopy Come Home

I think those are the only movie-lenght Peantus movies

Crumb is not a comic adaptation-- it's a documentary about Crumb.

I know there was a Creepshow comic, but didn't it come after?

Was Barbarella a comic first?

DVD set is some of the movies.

Swamp Thing 2, as long as we're at it.

Red Sonja

Oh, Matrix was not a comic unless you believe Grant Morrison when he says they stole it from the Invisbles.

And Fifth Element is not a comic adaptation, but is a *lot* like French sci-fi comics, including "The Incal."

Man, I loved those Blondie movies when I was little.

They were up there with the Ma and Pa Kettle movies.

Anyways, are we just limiting our self to comics in the US? Because if not this thread will get huge with all the Japanese stuff :D

Yeah, I'm not really sure I want this to get into manga-based movie territory, unless it was made by Hollywood like 'Fist of the North Star' and 'Crying Freeman'.
