I don't find Ben Stiller or any of the "frat pack" funny at all and actively avoid any movies they play a major role in

21 century comedy movies have been just abysmal ...really since the late 90s when they started making movies out of shitty SNL skits

When the brilliant "Freddy Got Fingered" went over everybody's head and crap like "Zoolander" was beloved I knew it was over

Well Airplane, Naked Gun, Dumb and Dumber were among the greatest I have seen. But I haven't seen them in ages.

And I have to mention Don't be a Menace and Scary Movie 1. My girlfriend absolutely loves these 2, and sometimes we just start them in. Its dated as fuck, but really stupid.

Yes, it's excellent, and definitely one of my favourites, but it does get outclassed by so many other greats.
"Top Secret" is probably my best. No one else seems to talk about it, but to each their own.
Tropic Thunder definitely is the best example of how to handle "offensive" comedy. On pure entertainment value, the Jump Streets take the cake.

I think Anchorman 2 is the funniest movie i've ever seen. i didn't even like the first one tbh. idk what it was about the sequel, but every joke landed for me.

A funny movie, sure. Best ever? Nah.

Some really good ones, and imo, much better and has aged very well.

Coen Bros (Fargo, Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, etc.)

John Hughes (Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller, 16 Candles,)

Monty Python (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, etc.)

Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, Isle of Dogs)

Classic Hollywood Comedies (Some like it Hot, The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, The Apartment, Dr. Strangelove, Roman Holiday, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Annie Hall, etc.)

It's an all time classic for sure -- but no, have to agree with the majority -- definitely not the funniest.

I'd probably go with Blazing Saddles, as has been mentioned several times over.

another great one

Eddie Murphy's character Kit having a progressing mental breakdown because a director (Steve Martin) with no budget is secretly filming Kit to be the star of his alien invasion film thus unknowingly gaslighting Kit into believing his paranoia is actually correct, honestly one of the best premises for comedy gold one could ask for.

I think most of the rest of the film is just good (Eddie Murphy's second character, Jiff, having to run across the highway TWICE though is also hilarious), but anytime Kit is having a total freak out is just the best.

I really like this movie. There's not a lot of big laughs for me, but its an amusing premise and it's very fun and original.

I do agree w/ the person above that the scene with him crossing the highway is one of the funniest things i've seen on film.

The best comedy ever made is either Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Life of Brian. Both films have only one thing going for them: humor. Literally made on a shoestring budget.

I don't know why this popped into my head, but whatevs.

My best friend and I were movie hounds back in high school. We would go to the theater at least twice a week and rent DVDs. We saw the trailer for Very Bad Things and thought it was going to be a dark comedy:

This is one of the most misleading trailers ever. I'm not not saying you should watch it, but wow...they don't make movies like this anymore.
