Every Xbox One Includes a Chat Headset!! + Xbox One Day One Unboxing

Why does it seem like MS is further ahead with this stuff than Sony? We have way more information about new XB1 XBL features, more details about how their system works, we already have marketing videos for accessories, and now we even have an unboxing.

I know, it's embarrassing how much MS keeps reversing their policies, but it still seems as though we know way more about the console than the PS4.

What?

How the hell can you complain about Microsoft giving us more?
Everything about this is a good thing.
What the fuck is wrong with this forum?

The 4k won't be for anything native to the Xbox most likely, but it can be used for passthrough since they want your Xbox to be a middleman to your entertainment.

It was confirmed.

So..

DRM
Used games
Always online
Self publishing
Indie game support
Headset now included

Sony making the Xbox One better everyday!

The headset wasn't listed in the contents at the time of first pre-order, and oddly still isn't listed on the page as of this morning:

("Whats"? ow, my eyes)

Edit: hah, they *just* updated that pre-order page to include the headset in the list in the time that I was posting.

"Xbox One system software uses a significant amount of storage."

I wonder how much we'll have for actual games - 450 GB? 400 GB? Less...?

A formatted 500GB has about 460 I think. Out of that set aside 10-30 for the OS and cache and we will likely have 430-450 available. I am leaning towards less than more, but over 400 makes sense.

did I hear him say something about Kinect receiving IR signals? So that means I don't have to be pointing directly at the system itself in order to use my remote? Cool.

It seems it's the other way around. Kinect sending IR signals to power on/off or control other devices in your room.

Official specs, please?

We have seen plenty of promotional videos for PS4 like dev diaries, DS4 trailer and UI trailer.

MS needs to provide as much exposure as they can because of their muddy messaging and reversals.

One company is really worried about their current brand perception while the other is not. The company with more "hey, look at me and how great this is!" is probably the one needing to boost their brand perception.

Well it's a small hypervisor which is a few MB plus two OS environments, so yeah I'd say roughly 10-20 GB gone for OS stuff. This is also the reason the system drive isn't removable--unlike PS3 and Xbox360, the OS environment isn't a small firmware that lives on a flash chip, it's installed on the HDD.

If you were to remove the HDD, you would have to reinstall the hypervisor, configure it, provision two VMs and install the Xbox OS on one and Windows on the other.

I hope they update the software so it can change your DVR channel via LAN or HDMi-CEC (if you have a compatible one). Should be easy enough if you select what brand you have from a database.

Not a fan of IR blasters - my experience of TiVo series 1 wasn't good. Having to tune the pause between each number sent to make it reliable. I could switch over manually faster than the IR blaster could

Also slightly concerned about chaining HDMI. My DVR goes through my receiver and the into my TV. I'm assuming the Xbox would go before the receiver, but now you have more devices argue the toss with EDIDs flying around.

I said this in a different thread but i wonder if the new Xfinity X1 DVR has XboxOne functionality built in. Seems like a pretty coincidental name if not.

Great news to hear. Now I can cancel the extra headset and put the cash towards another game.

I'm really looking forward to getting hands on with this.

It's annoyingly entertaining. The same people razzing MS for 180s are doing there own version. They cry that if MS changes XYZ they'll look at an XBO. MS changes, they still hold up a middle finger. lol.

Why? I don't plan on using Kinect, EVER! I don't plan on leveraging the HDMI in and connecting to my cable box. I don't plan on getting XBL unless there is a compelling reason. I just want to play exclusive games.

Well Xbox1 is not for you then.

Are you being serious? Sony confirmed having a headset and HDMI cable months ago...and we already know internet is not required.

I'm almost certain that 65% of people who plan on buying the console don't even realize that Kinect is required for the console to function and that internet is required to activate the console.
98% of all statistics are made up.

Nelson may be a twat in certain settings, but he really is great in front of a camera.

Glad to see MS getting their act together. If you're a PS fan you should be happy too. Competition is always a good thing.

I don't get the hate for this either. I don't really like what Microsoft has shown, and it's great that consumer backlash is causing them to change their stance on many things. But this is nothing but a good thing for the consumer and a good thing for keeping a robust online community via voice chat.

It's not like this was the thing that is going to help or hurt sales. That mandatory Kinect and $100 for weaker hardware and less AAA first party studios and unproven indie support and f2p multiplayer behind paywall and apps behind paywall is still lingering.

But this specific thing is great for consumers.

Decided to go PS4 on launch(maybe it would of been different if the reversal did not happen but hey...) but I will be getting a One as well down the line,I might even look for one on the shelves on launch but I highly doubt I will find one then lol...nice of them to include the headset as well now.

Yeah, because there would be no way to plug in a separate IR blaster...oh wait!
But isn't Kinect the IR receiver as well? Assuming it is, that is a nice change from the 360 as it's easier to point the remote at Kinect (which is under the TV) than it is at the console which is way off to the side in my setup.

I just can't see how anyone who truly cares about games and the future of the industry could support this console...no matter how much they change. They showed their true colors and started backtracking because they were getting completely decimated in preorders. They don't care about the gamer at all. Sure, you'll have decent exclusives for a while, but then they'll completely abandon that in the end just like they did with 360. I can't support them based on principle alone.

It's nice to want things.

Those things are integral to the system. MS knows Kinect can never reach its potential unless it is in EVERY box. And so it will be.

Some people don't like it, and thats fine. Buy a PS4. I am buying both. I wan't to play exclusive games as well.

Also, just out of curiosity. What Single Player only exclusives are you dying to play on Xbox One?

I'm buying a Xbox one because I love games.... Christ get over it

So play the games and chill. Yes its more expensive because of Kinect. But its time to get over it.
