everything feels sluggish in RDR2

I remember the duel(?) mechanic being so poorly explained, that I dropped it and didn't go back.
I expect Gta6 to have sluggish controls too.
It's Rockstar's Modus operandi.
They're overrated as fuck.

Playing it on PC is a much better experience. I gave up on it on console because of the controls. The 1st Red Dead is one of the best games of the 360/PS3 generations.

This is exactly why I stopped playing. The controls are even more clunky than GTA5.

It's a shame. I really wanted to play through RDR2, but so much of the gameplay is just absolute ass.

But that goes to prove that, for a lot of people, gameplay is not king. That's certainly not true for me; I prioritize gameplay over everything.

Those who don't like rdr2 "cause the controls" deserve to be extraterrestrial anally proved.

Jokes aside, I understand, it happens to me with the combat on The Witcher 3.

BUT only if said alien looks like one of those hot alien women from Mass Effect (with the big booties) AND it's a "tit for tat" type thing.

I don't think I won more than one of those quickdraws because the tutorial sucked and I couldn't be bothered.

Great to experience once but yeah, the controls and response all feels very sluggish.

RDR1 was much better in terms of playability, IMO.
Just finished my replay of the first game on PC. It feels great at 120fps, and very responsive. Decided to give the second another try, since I disliked it on release. Same issue. It just feels like shit. Even with the same high frame rate and reflex. Too much animation priority, taking away control from the player.

Sadly, GTA6 will probably be the same experience.

You have made me sad with this necrobump and no news of a patch on consoles.

It always confused me a bit that this could be that off putting to so many people, but different tastes I guess.

I usually love fast paced games, I'm a big fan of games like Tony Hawk, SSX, or combat stuff like Bayonetta, fast paced, arcade stuff is r eally my thing.
Despite that, I absolutely loved RDR2, because I also really like immersion, and this game constantly invites you to just role play and immerse yourself into that world. I didn't mind everything being slow, because everything was incredibly immersive. It did work really well for me.

The one terrible thing about the game to me is the wanted / police system, which is really terrible. And story missions being too scripted, I can understand this complaint too if you play several of them in a row. But the open world part... absolutely amazing.

My apologies mate. Is it still 30fps ?
I thought PS4 Pro and OneX got a variable 60 patch back in the day. Not that it would help matters. The game just feels unresponsive.

Normally I can adjust, like I did with RE4 Remake and end up loving the game, but not here. It doesn't matter how long I persist.

7 years later and last gen and no game remotely approaches their level of detail and they won't... Until GTA 6 when Rockstar themselves will show the industry what current gen is.

cause the games always had terrible combat, rockstar does in general.

Everything else tho? pretty flawless and best in the biz

I thought that was the whole point for this game, you're meant to take it slow and really get into it

Yea, i guess, if you like 30 min horse rides
