Evil Dead 2

"It's back to the "Evil Dead" well for another helping of ghoulish mayhem with Anchor Bay's Evil Dead 2: Book of the Dead 2. Director Sam Raimi's kick-ass sequel gets a wicked re-release this time around with its very own collectible Necronomicon "Book of the Dead" packaging designed, once again, by special effects guru Tom Sullivan. As an added bonus over the last Necronomicon release, you'll be able to press the bulging eye to hear the book scream! Look for the disc itself to feature the first ever high-definition Divimax transfer of this classic film, along with new and exciting bonus materials. No street date yet, so stay tuned. "

The Evil Dead 1 book smells really bad...

But if you put it in the fridge for a while it does feel like flesh when you bring it out, which is cool.

Oh man this is good news. But it makes my previous limited edition even more limited and special now. I've got number 5000 of 5000 tin can still in very good condition. Hope its worth something.

I'll buy it again, but - yeah! - for those of us who have the LE tin case Evil Dead II DVDs, we're going to be rich some day.

Hope they have a better way of storing the DVD other than stuffing it in a sleeve. My original book of the Dead disc has some scratches because of it.

WHO DEY!?
Who would want to own that movie so they could watch it again and again? I liked it when I was 14, but the novelty wore off. It's not even very funny.

YEESS! OH MY GOD YES!!

I've been holding out for so long on buying Evil Dead II, praying that Anchor Bay would whip up a special special edition, and here it is!

Now, any word on whether they'll upgrade Army of Darkness and give it some flashy packaging and new extras as well? Or is the Boomstick Edition the end of the line?

Different strokes for different folks. The Evil Dead trilogy is good, especially for those of us who favor the horror genre.

The only thing that drives me up the wall with the Evil Dead trilogy is the fact that there is multiple versions of basically the same movie. I can't even count how many versions of Army of Darkness there are. It's like Night of the Living Dead.

Jesus, another one. I only have the ED2 tin collector's edition so it's not as bad as with Army of Darkness where I've double dipped already with the "Bootleg" and "Boomstick" Editions, but something tells me that AOD will also get a Necronomicon set down the line.

Yeah, it's not true horror, but I wouldn't throw it completely out of the confines of the genre. It's more of a gory comedy farce... with elements of horror. Dark comedy would probably be a better term for it.

I always thought Evil Dead 1 & 2 were horror, with AOD being more of the comedy.

Army of Darkness is definitely more of a straight-up action/adventure comedy, but Evil Dead II is hardly horror. Basically what it boils down to is that Sam Raimi doesn't like horror movies, so he made what he wanted with the sequels, which was this violent slapstick comedy that he could experiment on with all these crazy camera tricks he had been planning in his head.

Hey, what do you know. I agree with Willco.
