Evo 2026 lineup announced

So now that Sony has sold it, who owns and runs EVO these days?

Will they still exclusively use PS5's to run the games or will they go back to using PC's, I wonder?

So killer instinct got dropped for Invincible basically. Hopefully it looks a bit better than last showing.

Love to see Vampire Savior still hangin in there.

Major L for Tokon, the game sucks anyway

Does it? Maxamillian who loves every game you put in front of him sounds like he hates it. I thought the trailer looked good. I would've preferred a new Dragon Ball fighter from Ark and a new Marvel vs Capcom but whatever.

I mentioned it in another thread but I got in the beta and did not like it all. Of course it's a beta but all it did was make me want to get the marvel fighting collection. It does look amazing though.

Hate to say it but I had a bad feeling such would be the case. Do you mind if I ask what exactly went wrong with it? I can't place it when I watch gameplay videos of it, but something seems off, like the moment to moment gameplay just looks.....I don't know, over saturated with action and kinda boring? I wonder how close I am.

I don't really have the vocabulary to put my finger on it, but it just feels rather stale and dull to play. The systems are very straightforward but in the matches I played, it felt very "you go then I go" and it is way too easy to get guys in a trap where they can't do anything. The characters also felt like they played very similarly. Tagging also didn't feel good and dynamic.

TBH I played a few five round matches and was bored by round 4. I saw some people post about specific character setups and moves being unfair, I cant speak to that, but that is potentially another problem.

I think that can be picked up on even just by watching, which is a real bummer.

There's a fella that I play fighting games with. He's younger than me and not quite as good but he's got way more potential than I do, as he's been playing for like a year and is pretty damn close to as good as me, (better in terms of execution, it's just his fundamentals need work), and we were gonna use this as our "let's get good together" game, (get him good and get me back to what I was 25 years ago, or as close as I can get at my age lol), but after watching footage I just can't shake that this might not be the game for us to use towards that endeavor. I wanted it to be SF 6 then, but he's not a big SF guy, then he wanted it to be MK1, but I can't stomach the new MK, so that's out.

I'm really hoping we're both wrong and this ends up amazing, as I think trying to get truly decent at a fighting game with a friend would be amazing man, just like the old days. That being said, it's nearly impossible to find time to do it like the old days when you work and have a family and friends that demand a lot of time, so I don't know if that'll ever happen necessarily.....but I digress quite a lot. I hope it's good eventually at least.

Correct me if I am wrong but MK1 was abandoned by the pblisher and even longtime MK fans don't like it. So, seems logical to cut it. It would've been hilarious if they brought back MK11.

Like I said, it's a beta, so I wouldn't write it off just yet, they can definitely tweak it... but I would recommend skipping the preorder.

Nah. MK players exercise good hygiene and do not have known pedos in their ranks.

MK players have severe brain damage, which is why they play MK, where no brainpower is needed. so they wouldn't even have the capacity to be predators. I guess that's something 🤣

And i though it is the biggest one of them all.
In terms of sales yeah. MK1 was universally shit on for a number of reasons though. People hated the kameo system and game was GAAS'd out the ass. With NR pulling support I'm not surprised to see it get yanked from Evo.

They play MK because it was amazing once just like most fighting franchises of yore.

MK was never anything above mediocre.
it's fun played casual with friends, but it can never be taken seriously as an eSport.

clunky ass controls, dogshit character animations, insanely bad balancing, dial-in combos.
it was never a serious fighting game.

1. Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 are great fighting games that stand the test of time.

2. There is no such thing as "eSports". There is sports and then there is playing videogames competitively in tournament scenes (being abandoned by sponsors).

3. Pretty much all fighting games outside of something as universally broken as X-Men vs. Street Fighter or as compulsively play tested as Virtua Fighter (4 onward) are unbalanced.

4. Controls in Street Fighter V/VI and Tekken Tag 2/7/8 are more clunky than Mortal Kombat 2/3/X/11.

5. Animations can range from good to bad.

6. Dial-in combos are a genre staple after combos became a feature. Virtua Fighter had strings in 1993. Tekken had 10-hit strings all the way back in 1994.

Hopefully back to PC

Strange I've never had a controller disconnection issue with the 3 PS5's I've owned. For it to happen to so many people at one event is very weird. They might want to check and make sure someone isn't purposely making it happen with some sort of device.

Read the replies to the tweet. Many such cases.

But also consider these events the hardware is getting tested heavily. A million different bluetooth devices trying to pair. Hot rooms. Devices getting plugged in over and over.

Knew Tokon wasn't going to make it given that they haven't been announcing new characters. Seemed like it was going to be later 2026 at best. Game is fun though from the betas ive played.
