Explain the 1UP/Peter Moore feud thing to me.

Alright, I keep hearing that Peter Moore took some swipes at 1UP.com, and there was some creepy interview with him, but I have no idea what it is, because:

A) I rarely read 1UP. This is not a comment on the quality of the site; I just don't read any videogaming site other than GAF. Occasionally I stoop to read Greg Kasavin reviews at Gamespot for much the same reason why I occasionally read conservative blogs like Instapundit or Powerline: I sometimes like to piss myself off. He WAS right about Killer 7, though. Dammit.

B) I never, ever download "gaming TV" style web video programs. I find 'em fuckin' uncomfortable to watch, and the last thing I wanna see EVER is a couple of goobers muttering about Animal Crossing, eyes on their shoes or off-camera. (Actually, I find ALL positive Animal Crossing discussion offensive.)

So, can someone summarize for your ol' pal Drinky Crow? Come ON.

I gave kameo a 7, egm guys gave it 6's. on the 1up show, peter moore jokingly (?) demanded we do a "re-review." we won't.

aaaaaaaaaaaand scene.

I think the gist of it was that Moore was unhappy with some reviews of Kameo coming out of Ziff Davis, and decided to call them out on it, on video. He is a consumate professional.

I thought it was more of an EGM/Peter Moore feud. They bashed Kameo and Moore felt the reviews were "not reviews" (he said something like that, something reflective of their quality) and said he expects a re-review in a future issue.

Boring! What a waste of a topic!

MAKE UP SOMETHING SORDID. Like how Che got drunk at a junket and spooned him behind a Call of Duty 2 kiosk. MUCH better!

Definately looks like an EGM/Moore feud, though the 1up Xbox/Xbox 360 HD Article DOES mimic Moore quite a lot. But it's all in good fun, as far as I can tell.

And I may be completely wrong. Oh well!
:lol :lol

Peter Moore slept with EGM's ex-girlfriend, Shaquanda. Shaquanda was in charge of reviewing Kameo, but then she got fired when EGM found out about the affair. So some other guys did the review and angrily bashed it. Then, feeling guilty and having lost his dignity, Moore complained that it was unfair and the game was played incorrectly. EGM had a deadline to meet and they had to make up for all of Shaquanda's squandered time.

Yes.

And here I was thinking they were still bitter over the PDZ screens

Never forget! It was EGM who as at fault for that.... not Rare... who sent them the screenshots to begin with.

Petey needs to realize that Kameo just isn't that great; in fact, it's pretty damn poor.

EGM - 1, Mooretown - 0.

I thought it came across as more of a slight jab and a joke in the 1up video. He was clearly at least half-drunk when he said it. Just seemed to be disagreeing, nothing too malicious about it from what I saw in the video. Maybe I'm missing something.

The Xbox/Xbox 360 comparison article does indeed seem to me like trying to mock Moore.

Oh, so it was the whole Kameo deal that was about. Seemed odd to me (the whole feud thing) considering the type of 'off the record/informal' interview Moore was giving Che. I wonder if he'll be that informal in future interviews, considering 1UP's reaction.

For some reason you feel inclined to comment negatively on each and every 360 game, I shouldn't be curious why that is, but I am.

That time you had playing every 360 launch game at your friends house (and it must have been quite a bit of time, since you were able to score every game on gameplay and graphics in the other thread) must have been terrible.

is this just your first or 2nd time experiencing a heian-kyo post? because you've just experienced the equivalent of thousands.

I've experienced a few, I was just too shy to ask :D

I've stated numerous times that both Ridge Racer 6 and Call of Duty 2 are both high quality titles (the latter of which I even admitted eating crow on), and while I personally dislike the series, I also have stated how impressed I was with PGR3, especially in terms of presentation.

Is it a problem that I feel the rest of the 360 lineup is average at best? Kameo especially is, in my opinion, the least impressive title I've played on the system; is this 'wrong'?

And in the impressions thread (did you see that, it said 'impressions', not 'reviews'; novel concept, I know) I clearly stated that all of mine were merely based on SP only, and on a system I myself did not own. If I felt my opinions on a certain game would've changed with more time, I would've stated such. I don't with any of the games I've played, and thus, I didn't.

What do you see ahead for Xbox?

Peter Moore: This is an exciting time for the industry. I realize a lot of the folks who read Reveries are marketers, and while they may have a certain fascination about videogames, they sometimes might feel like they're peering in through a foggy window and trying to figure out what's going on. This is very much a mainstream situation at Xbox with regard to what videogaming will be about in the future. And, of course, there's a bigger play here as well -- that is, what entertainment overall is going to look like in our living rooms over the next four or five years. We truly believe that videogames will be a core part of that entertainment experience.
