If you find them creepy that's your issue not theirs.Yes, and they're all fucking creepy. Well, that's the problem.

Adventure Time's target audience is roughly the same age range as MLP, for boys instead of girls, and doesn't seem to get anywhere near the same flak for college aged students watching it
ok. so the same will apply to mlp in a few years ?
If you find them creepy that's your issue not theirs.
So they can like it without issue, it's when they like it too much that it becomes a problem? I don't get this line of thinking. Are people just irked that they don't enjoy anything as much as bronies enjoy MLP?
"You are only allowed to have fun up to a certain level of enjoyment. Any enjoyment and expression thereof that exceeds said level shall hereby label you 'weird' and/or 'creepy' and/or 'obsessed'. These labels shall make it acceptable for you to be insulted and mocked for having too much fun. If you wish to shed such labels you must reduce your level of fun down to the socially accepted level."

You're right but I'm just gonna say that letting the majority determine society's moral compass has produced bad results in the past and at the very least slowed progress towards true equality for everyone. It seems to be an issue with most well adjusted adults.
You are also right. Some of these people might have serious issues that they are dealing with and using the brony identity to help them through it.I think that when any part of your identity becomes seriously wrapped up in a fictional media property then something is odd, and I think that the MLP community has an anomalously high number of people for whom that's true.
How can someone be sexually attracted to a non-existing thing they can't have sex with? Is that ok?!
It was and is utterly wretched and shlock targeted at little girls exclusively.
Your mind is too weak. Get on my level.
I really think that's because Adventure Time, popular though it may be, doesn't seem to have the same sense of community and personal investiture that MLP often seems to have. The level of meta-media doesn't seem comprable, nor does the amount of self-association. If "Adventurers" or something really became a thing you might see a similar response.
Way to completely diminish the struggles of blacks and gays. You're right but I'm just gonna say that letting the majority determine society's moral compass has produced bad results in the past and at the very least slowed progress towards true equality for everyone.

And if you really think it's the same situation, you're much further gone than you know.
i dont get this part. ofcourse its targeted at little girls. its a show about ponies with magic powers (at least i think it is)
I'm not diminishing anything. Of course they are not the same but they all fall in the category of one group thinking they are better than another group based on something that hurts no one. I'm sure there are bronies who would say their "struggle for acceptance" is akin to that of gays and non-whites. Fuck those people.Way to completely diminish the struggles of blacks and gays.

Because fans of a show about ponies aimed at little guys that have perverted it by sexualizing it, is the same thing as the horrible things black people and us gays have been through. Equality is for social segment, this is not.
Give me a fucking break.
I wonder what will happen to these folks when the show is over. It reminds me of that twilight girl, clearly she wasn't creepy.
Okay let's turn this thread in a direction less creepy.
So what would everyone's cutie marks be?

I should have put this in quotes since I don't see it that way but based on some of the videos I've seen that show how seriously these guys take it I imagine they would use such a phrase.Struggle for acceptance? There would only be such a thing because they're letting a show be their identity. People who are women, a particular race, transgender and or gay is simply not comparable to someone who appropriates a show as an identity marker.
It is, but it isn't laser focused on that. Topics are far broader than relationship stuff for example which is conflated with girl demographics.
Regardless of whether you do or don't understand why it's happening, it IS happening.

cool but how can one (other than little girls) get into this show to experience this broader stuff if the whole layout of the show is offputting for young males or adults
Whelp. Thanks again GAF.
I could have done without knowing what "clopping" is, but stupid me and my curiosity got the best of me. Just when I think I've seen it all the world gets even more bizarre. :'(

Funny thing is, as someone who didn't grow up with Western culture, I had no idea ponies and horses are associated with girls until I started watching the show.
I don't know what's creepier, dudes with MLP avatars or this thread:

I like how people use hyperbole to form an argument instead of realizing we're talking about certain fans and not all of them. But please, continue.
people interested in sci-fi as well as gamers (unless you own a 360, bro)

It's also weird for grown men to like Anime, Thundercats, Transformers, Marvel and DC comic books, video games, little collectible board games, TCG, half of the stuff sold at geek stores, Lego and movies about elves and sorcerers. And I bet most of the people in here love at least half of that.
GAF, stop trying to define yourself by putting yourself over stuff other people think, do or like. It's so silly.
