EXTREME GHOULS & GHOST (PSP): New Trailer:

GOKU FUCKING MAKAIMURA! this just keeps looking better -- i can't believe how completely they've nailed the g+g look in 3d, and there's just life and animation everywhere. now we need a release date.

Looks amazing. Could easily end up being the best game on the system. I'm glad they delayed it to spend extra time fine tuning the title.

Running animation is a bit wonky though ^^;

Holy crap that looks amazing! I can friggin wait. Why can't more developers do this (3d graphics with 2d gameplay)?

Looks about right to me; ditto the 2-frames-of-animation jumps. God bless Professor F.

edit: In the interests of staving off future mass suicides, it doesn't (or at least didn't?) look quite this perfect in the flesh, but it's still a really good-looking game.

Hmm, the end of the trailer would suggest that you don't lose a life after being hit in your underwear (fighting as a skeleton).

Day 1, tell me when that is Capcom.

:lol I guess I wasn't the only one who thought of Castlevania when I saw it.

Castlevania is exactly what I was thinking of when I made my first comment. I'm getting sick of Konami's excuses for not doing a proper 2D gameplay Castlevania for consoles or psp.

Holy gods. Between this and all the other recent and upcomming releases, it's a sealed deal, Capcom loves PSP like they loved the Dreamcast.

You know what that means! Hang on to your hats boys, the next few years are going to be a ride!

CAPCOM!
Wow, why does this game look so good? Honestly, I'm in love with 2.5d gaming goodness on PSP. Man, I thought Maverick Hunter X had great 2.5d visuals but this is just sick.

MHX, Powered Up, Ghouls & Ghousts... Keep it coming Capcom!

Hey, don't start the cockteasing. If your not going to expose it all, than don't tell us nothing at all....

(I lie, send a PM)

Holy shit I love this super remake renaissance we're enjoying. Capcom is on the ball with the PSP!
I thought EG&G was a brand new entry, not a remake? Or are you just refering to the classic franchises as a whole?

This game looks insanely awesome. 2.5D is definitely one of the PSP's strengths. So many franchises are just begging to be revisited in this style: Castlevania, Sonic, Contra, Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Einhander, etc. Two specific titles I'd love to see would be a Flashback remake, and new iteration of Metal Slug.

I'd kill for PS3 Castlevania to be 2D. :D

Since watching this made me dig out Hungry Ghosts again, I may as well take the opportunity to shill for Fujiwara - if you've ever asked the question "What if Ghouls & Ghosts was a deliberate, haunting first-person action-RPG with an outrageously intricate number of possible plot paths?", you really should track down a copy of Hungry Ghosts on PS2. Japanese only, which will limit it to those of you who can read the language or are prepared to muddle through a text- and dialogue-heavy game for the atmosphere alone, but it's got a hell of a lot of atmosphere, and it's a crime that it vanished without trace.

Although I guess if it hadn't crashed and burned, he might not be back at Capcom working on a twenty-year-old platformer.

I think the PSP has found its true calling.

2.5D games.

Konami should make a 2.5D Castlevania for PSP.

That would seriously rock.

Then I would need an Ogre Battle on the PSP and I'd be pretty much set for life. A boy can dream can't he

Capcom and Namco seem to be the companies really pushing PSP as far as making truly great games - visually and gameplay-wise. That being said, this looks great.

I've always hoped for more games with 2D/2.5D gameplay combined with 3D graphics. It's a perfect mixture of tight gameplay/controls (due to its 2D nature, ie you only control the character rather than character plus crappy camera) and potentially great graphics due to the complete control devs have over the gameplay view (for example, they can keep the camera locked at certain distance and optimize the graphics according to that).

Seems like PSP is delivering this somewhat, which makes me happy. Extreme Ghouls & Ghosts looks awesome, but it will probably be too hard for me though. Just a feeling I have. :P

This game --> <3 <3 <3

Now please please, don't water it down for the masses. I want my zen gaming experience left alone thankyouverymuch.

early version of GHOULS 'N GHOSTS 3 for Super Famicom, circa 1990

which I loved, has finally been surpassed!

Looks fucking brilliant!

BTW, is this game officially being called Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins in the U.S. (from the trailer) or is it gonna be Extreme Ghouls & Ghosts as mentioned in this thread's heading?

looks HARDCORE. going to be hard as nails, isnt it?

must have :)

Looks bloody fantastic. :) Got chills listening to the music, I used bite my Snes pad in frustation thanks to SGn'G. Hope I can restrain myself from breaking my PSP playing this.

Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins is what Capcom US lists it as.

you know, from all the trailers/videos so far, I would say it's more like a super extreme Ghosts 'n Goblins than a Ghouls 'n Ghosts. but no matter, I have a reason to get a PSP now.

Looks cool ... but best looking PSP game is a bit of a stretch.

It looks like an SNES-era game on heavy steroids. I was never a huge GnG fan, but I'll check it out.
