F.E.A.R. Multiplayer Closed Beta is back!

Does anyone have the system requirments for the beta?

I only have a 9600PRO 256mb in my shuttle at the moment.

I'd give you some performance results, but I think there may be something wrong with the performance analyzer in the beta. It goes through some scenes from the single player demo we have heard about. I wish I knew how to take screenshots because the game looks stunning. There are a ton of options you can filter. I had the game auto detect the recommended settings and didn't change anything myself right away. It wanted me to run the game at 800 X 600. So I ran the performance test and I it gave me an average of 23 FPS. Ok, so I keep everything the same and bump up the resolution to 1024 X 768 and I hit an average of 25FPS. Next I bump up the resolution to 1280 X 960 (highest my monitor supports) and it gives me an average of 33FPS. So, yeah, I don't know what is going on there. :P I played some multiplayer matches online and it seemed pretty smooth at 1024 X 768 resolution. When you fire bullets it impacts everywhere. Papers flying, holes in the wall, knocking down items. It's sweet. Here are my basic hardware stats.

AMD 2.2 ghz processer
9800PRO @ XT speed (412 core/ 365 mem)
1 gig pc3200 ram

Still trying to figure out the performance analyzer though.

lol yea there must be something wrong, the FPS should drop the higher the resolution.

Curious abotu the beta, do you actually need to have a fileplanet account to play it? I may get my friend to download it for m but he won't give me his User/Pass :(

Looks gorgeous and is really quite fun once you get comfortable with the weapons. On one level I shot out a skylight, jumped down and delivered pure ownage on an unsuspecting player. :lol

Proximity mines are a nice touch, though I can't say I've used them yet. The maps are great for deathmatch, but I still have to try out some of the other modes. The lighting engine is quite well done. Player shadows are cast on walls and floors and around corners by different light sources so taking cover isn't always as simple as ducking behind a wall.

Runs without a hitch on my specs:

Intel Pentium 4 2.8ghz HT
512MB Dual Channel
Geforce 6800 256MB
Running at 1024x768

My handle's McGuinea. Keep an eye out for me ;)

MrBob's specs are pretty close to mine, except he's got a faster processor.

AMD XP 2100+ processer
9800PRO
1 gig ram

Here's hoping this will run well on my ancient machine. :(

I think this is my highest score yet. I died enough times. :lol

Thanks! :)

I could give a crap about the MP, but I want to see how it runs on my dusty, coal powered system.

It plays really nice on my system,

AMD64 3000+ @ 2.3
1GB PC2700
9600Pro 256Mb card

Thanks for linking the free one I was going to break down and actually sign up

Is there any reason to sign up for this? Haven't been following this one, but just looking at it, makes it look like a single player FPS. Any particular reason I'd want to play the multiplayer?

The multiplayer is a nice hybrid of your usual deathmatch craziness and slower more planned out less tactical rainbow 6 stuff.

You can't really issue commands or anything but if you're in a team game and you throw a grenade you'll automatically say 'grenade out' and you can do some simple coordinated efforts.

Also the weapons are more accurate if you're moving slower or if the weapon is shouldered so it is possible to have a less chaotic game.

It's a little more planned than deathmatch, but much more chaotic than rainbox 6. It's a fun diversion.

Sounds like Counter Strike.

Screw it then, I'll stick to BF2 demo, until it's release.

well it's like an ultra arcadey version of counter strike no 'you're dead, wait to respawn' stuff, its just team deathmatch where accuracy can actually matter.

But yea, BF2 is more fun.

Shit. This plays like absolute ass on my system. :( I refuse to go below 1024x768 @ medium detail, and I can't even get a reasonably stable 20 fps. It's not like the multiplayer in this game is worth a shit, but damnit I hate to face the fact that my PC is inept. :(

I don't know what just happened but I rebooted and started the game, I went into Multiplayer and OMG! THE JAGGIES!! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!! With AA FSAA Maxed out it's Jag heaven! what the hell! I'll wait for the full verison to come out...

Yeah, multi kind of sucks. I was able to get it running pretty well on my machine. Just had the texture detail set way too high. Maximum detail on a 128 mb card probably was causing paging. :)

I tried it for a few minutes... It seems pretty underwhelming both gameplay-wise and graphically :(... Hope the singleplayer is a lot better, or that it just takes some time to warm up to...

It looks good if you have a Good video card with high resolution, but if if you don't have any of the new generation cards well the game does look like total ASS. I played it on my X800XT and it looks AWSOME but playing it on my 9600Pro it looks like crap.
