I would enjoy seeing more but I'm trying to think of what other ways they can traumatize Bill and still have it be entertaining.

I agree but the show was shit though. Maybe it will find it's identity with a couple of more seasons.

yeah the show never got past the point being just ok, but it was enough to make me want to watch a new season. I'm actually kinda happy that the little bro and sis have that love hate relationship where she's a total dick to him, until she or he get hurt and then it's all they're super close.

I really liked this. It's hard to be objective, because I'm a MMPC listener, and seeing Bill's angry 70s dad routine in animated form was going to make this for me no matter what. And in that regard it didn't disappoint - but I think the show stood on its own too.
The trailers had me a little worried, because the soundbites don't really pack any punch in a world already saturated with edgy cartoons. But it is thankfully not a show about shock-jokes or big punchlines. Rather, it's a pretty heartfelt and hilarious depiction of 70s suburban life, told with all the creative freedom that animation (and a very liberal studio) allows. There were perhaps only one or two out-loud laughs per episode (usually related to "I'll put you through the FUCKIN' WALL"), but thanks to the characters and the contiguous story line, I just felt like spending more time with the family.
I think it could use another season to fully find its feet, so I hope it's renewed. And I hope that they continue to draw on the 70s in the way they have, without resorting to over the top stories.

I'm on the third episode and am enjoying it so far. Honestly I was worried when I read that it takes a while to get going like Bojack, because I have started Bojack three or four times and have been unable to watch past episode 2 or 3.

I liked it, too short of a season though. Man, the dad never caught a break! Except for the
great make up sex traumatizing little Bill hiding under the bed.
Pretty good show, I wish there was more of it though.
Bojack gets good by the end of episode 4, just skip to that episode and play on your phone or whatever while you passively take in the plot. Then start watching at the end, at the speech.

I watched the first two episodes. I thought it was okay. Don't like the art at all though, but then none of these shows look good in my opinion.

She sings a lot with those PostModernJukebox folk. She has a lovely, lovely voice.

I watched it with my dad, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it!
I appreciated the suprisingly dark moments (anything involving bill crying was always pretty heartbreaking) and the character driven writing. There weren't any laugh-out-loud moments I can recall, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless. On the art side, it seemed to pull a lot of inspiration from King of the Hill. Not that I'm complaining- anything to fill the void KotH left is welcome in my book. I wish the animation would hit a richer balance that something like Bob's Burgers has. Despite being tweened movement, Bob's manages to hide it a little better with more unique drawings. As a result, 'F' felt a bit cheap in comparison.
A standout moment for me was the scene where Frank was driving and drinking a beer on the way back from the game. I turn to my dad, "Wait, that was legal back then?", and he casually answers "Yeah, I used to do it all the time!". I was stunned.
I hope it pulls through for a second season.

I remember way back on his podcast when they were animating these episodes, where he said the animators were really excited to do a particular scene. It had to be the bathroom scene. Had to.

I feel the opposite, It grew on me to the point I watched its twice and I liked it better than bojack. It coming out right before christmas and the last episode ending on christmas eve also gave me this "Christmas Story" vibe to the whole show that I enjoyed. I hope it gets renewed for a season 2.

Pretty strong show! Definitely superior to any other 'animated family sitcom' type show I've seen in the past while, probably on account of the fact they could rely on a continuity due to the format. I finished episode 6 and was disappointed there wasn't more, although perhaps its good that it didn't get dragged out.

Ehhh; I thought it was pretty awful, and I love Bill Burr. Me and my brother's tried watching it today, and it's not like anything was too stupid; but it didn't feel like any of the jokes landed as well as they should. The animation was awful (I guess so is Bojack really), and the presentation just felt lacking.

You could get Shomi. They have afew things Netflix Canada doesn'tI've always had it in the back of my mind, not on Netflix in Canada though.
I think that's something that holds it back from being successful. It'll hit home with people who grew up in the 70s and possibly the 80s, but for younger folk I'm not so sure.
Personally, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a second season. The voice work is great, it's true to the era, and the family theme is strong, but I don't see the humor resonating with enough people. To be honest, if I didn't love Bill Burr, I'm not sure I'd care about the show.
Anyway, personal highlight of the show was the priest doing his warm-up routine for mass:
"leper whore whore whore leper whore"
Might be worth a shot; I already have Shaw and I think they give free trials!
I grew up in the 90s and it still worked pretty well; I think a lot of the themes present persist into the current year, just with this and that switched out.

As others have said, I think the show is "ok" enough to make me want to watch season 2. It's really weird cause I feel that Bill Burr's voice doesn't match the dad at all lol

As the other gafer said I'm a 90s kid and it still works. A struggling family with an angry dad isn't exactly reserved to the 70s. Plus plenty of folks have watched shows that are meant to be in the 70s.

I like the idea of the son being an angry fuckup because he just feeds off his angry fuckup of a dad, and the dad just feeds off the son. Just a merry go round of dysfunction.
Also have to say, the opening credits sequence is so great. A really cool abstract way to sum up the trajectory of this guy's life, it says a lot very economically.

I almost stopped mid first episode...so glad I didn't. After watching every episode I just wanted more.

So watched all 6 episodes. I love the intro but the show isn't funny. I literally laughed 0 times. Shame too as I was really looking forward to the show before it came out.

Not even a chuckle at men's restroom scene? Or Bill under his parent's bed? Or Mr. Potato head? Or that Diaper kid summerizing that episode of Colt Lugar for Frank after the fire?
Although I agree that it's not a laugh out loud kind of show, I still got a satisfying amusment out of it. It's weird.
