F-Zero coming to DS?

Nintendo INSIDE is reporting Suzak, developers of the new Kaitou Wario (Wario the Thief) game for DS, have announced they are developing a new secret DS title.

Could it be a new F-Zero?

Suzak developed the last two F-Zero games on the GBA, so I'd guess they'd be a likely candidate to develop a DS version. Online multiplayer please :)

Other than a new title announcement, and a developer that's made F-Zero before, there's no evidence of a DS F-Zero? Seems like a rather tenuous link.
 
I would want either EAD or Amusement Vision to do a DS version as the GBA games were not that great imo. Hell just port F-Zero for the N64 with the track randomizer and online play and call it a day. The gap between psuedo 3D F-Zero and true-3D F-Zero is pretty huge.
 
That wario game looks awful. I love wario games but the art style in this one is horrid. Hopefully, its just these screens.

It's not any more horrible than NSMB, at least.
 
I think Nintendo should be able to improve substantially on F-Zero X, but 30 players online? 8-16 might be possible, but 30 seems like an awful lot.
 
with an online ds f-zero, the more the merrier, as far as i'm concerned, but i'd expect it to be 4 player. not amazing, but i still think it'd be a blast!
 
It seems they are the ones porting Tengai Makyou II.

Given that their F-Zero games weren't nearly as good as the X series, I'm hoping EAD or Sega is handling a F-Zero DS Online.
 
Nintendo won't fund another Amuzement Vision F-Zero IMO. That was a one-shot high budget deal that didn't recoup the production money thrown down.

F-Zero DS will probably be developed by a small team at EAD or Nintendo/Suzak using a the 64DD F-Zero engine amplified. This is a good thing! If it happens at all that is.

No Suzak F-Zero is a good thing. :(
 
fzero online would be incredible. I just hope they dont use the n64 version (least favorite in teh series) as the template.
 
What would be even better is an F-Zero online for the Revolution. It would be alright on the DS, but it just wouldn't have the same sense of speed as another console version.

fingers crossed for another EAD F-Zero. For me AV will always be style over substance.

the pic is like 6 months old. If not more.
 
i love f-zero, but it isn't a huge seller and i can see how it isn't a priority for nintendo. i like the suzak developed games, so i think they could do a good online version for ds.

like many have said, update the n64 version add online and a touch screen track editor and i think it'd be a good, enjoyable game.

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if nintendo started killing off some of their straggler franchises, the voices of the harcore minority be damned.

So we shouldn't discuss when Nintendo announces a sequel to one of their games? (I know it's not official, shut up).

It's hard enough getting Marios and Zeldas from Nintendo, so every other franchise they can continue is a great thing.

Why not? F-Zero X, an N64 game, was just as fast as F-Zero GX. I see no reason why a DS version wouldn't be.

That is because they wanted FZero GX to be some form of minor FZero X update and they pissed their nappies when their FZX secret techniques were binned in favour of new mechanics. Some of them hardly even bothered to play the game because they sucked at snaking...so they moaned about it. Snaking gave FZero fans exactly what they wanted in time trial - insane speeds, increased focus on precise reflect-reactions, complex course strategies etc.

FZero GX is an excellent game that is only flawed by the failure of testers to notice the spaceflying glitch that ruined the competitive time trial of the game. Instead we were forced to construct certain "rules" that prevented this bug from being exploited in snaking runs.

And just as many people preferred GX.

As for the point about speed, I think they meant that a small screen on a handheld is never going to give you same rush as playing a game on a big TV screen. An online DS one would be nice, but I'd rather they devoted the resources to an online console one. F-Zero is much more of a console game. Although I doubt we will see another AV one unfortunately.

play them both again one after the other.

i have no doubt they could make a faster one on DS, but X is nowhere near as fast as GX.

No, in all seriousness, whether this rumor comes from credible sources or not you can pretty much assume that F-Zero is coming to DS. It's Nintendo.

Fzero's sales of late would imply that there isnt much of a future for the franchise.

yeah that's what I had worried :(

Or will Nintendo try to "rebrand" the franchise and dumb it down to appeal to the mass market? I'd rather see FZero die than watch it get raped like MarioKart did.
 
Nintendo's been slacking off on Star Fox and F-zero. I want NINTENDO to develop a game in the SF/FZ franchise again... just one more time. :(

I hope. Those franchises have been mistrated like dirty hoes on the NGC, they didn't live up their potentials (especially Star Fox)
 
I also eagerly await an F-Zero (Even though I suck at all of them.) and StarFox DS (Please for the love of Pete make it yourself, Nintendo. And LEAVE OFF THE FUCKING FOOT MISSIONS!)

Also, Pikmin screams touch screen.

But I thought GAF had already decided Nintendo was going to give up on games and make 'non games' only from now on!?

Are you saying we will have Mario's Brain training, and Link's Kanji practice? You can draw the kanji with his sword, with the STYLUS! HOORAY!
