F-Zero Revolution: What Are You Expecting?

so who would you like to see make the game this time around? what type of controls do you think it'll have?

both EAD and Amusement Vision have done awesome jobs with the series, so i really don't care who makes the next one, assuming Nintendo is still up for it.

one thing is for sure though, if it gets made, it'll be online.

*drools at thought of controlling with rev controller*

Ok, back to epithelial cell signaling. Fucking paper.

EAD

AV did a good job refining the controls and the EAD (F-Zero 64) formula, but I think EAD would be more successful in whipping up a whole new experience. Also, Sega kinda missed a few crucial features in their revamping, that I'd like EAD to re-implement.

If they bring back the random-track-generator from F Zero X then I'll be happy.

Although a bespoke F-Zero FF Cockpit would go down nicely too.

60fps and eye-bleedingly smooth animation. I know it will play like a dream anyway so that's a safe bet.

I'm expecting to umm...drive!...with a steering wheel!...that ummm...turns! And you can hmm...cook food with one hand while driving with the other and then throw it at the enemies!

Which features?

Next F-Zero should have 60 Cars on track.

Specifically, the random track generator levels from F-Zero 64 and the track creation system from the disk-drive F-Zero expansion. I could understand, perhaps, not including the latter, but the former? No way. :(

First of all, F-Zero GX team has to do it.

Maybe a Live-Action-Track-Editor, where you Twist and Turn your Revcontrol and this defines the track as you move along. Easy.

Maybe in Races, the Revcontroller defines the tilt of your ship so you have to pull it up to jump further and to the side to do sharper turns.

And 32 Player WiFi Races with custom Tournaments and 1on1 Leagues.

Custom Ship Builder. (even more custom)

I'm expecting them to not make this game at all. There is only so many series Nintendo can make updates to in a generation. Let this one stay in the vault while they focus on the major IPs and try and make some new ones along the way.

I want more F-Zero

-faster
-online
-mmm.. faster

can't think of anything that F-Zero GX didn't have

They should also drop Wave Race. Pool the free resources from those two to make, gasp!, a contemporary street racer.

64 car races on the internet.

As far as I'm concerned, I would not even have to use the rev controller, just the GC one will suffice.

Not very original, but F-Zero GX cannot be surpassed that easily imo.

Objection! Wave Race is one of my favorite racers ever. Please develop it Nintendo, if only for me ;-)

Wave Race 64 was pretty damn good. But Blue Storm was just the same game made a bit shinier.

If y'all gonna make another Wave Race game, REMEMBER TO DESIGN SOME NEW COURSES. You bastards.

So is that actually a goal?

It has got to be online .. GX is basically developed to nigh on perfection - i have no idea how can they possibly one-up the presentation and volume of things to do?

that said, random tracks + course edit are obviously the big things leftover from FZX
I wouldn't mind EAD or AV doing it, preferably both again

I'm all for an EAD waverace though, dont let those sods at NST touch it again! I want it as smooth as the spaceworld footage, i want the riders in helmets so i dont have to see their damn 'personalities'. And i also want the weather effects gone so that i can race the same course/waves more than once, thus learning how to time them to perfection, like in the original. I still remember when it dawned on me how flawless waverace 64 was... i was playing twilight city and did a scorcher of a first lap - and because of that, the waves that i knew were going to be in a certain place... had moved up so i had to rethink my strategy.

ok i've failed at putting that into words - NST sucks tho :) simple

What I expect is for them to transfer the brilliantly executed control scheme onto the Rvltn controller.

Hotdamn. As if F-Zero GX didn't already control like a wet dream, the magic wand will make it even more satisfying. Oh, man, making those tight turns, the jumps, the dives, the S-curves, the twists, the acceleration...

GAME OF NEXT GENERATION!!!111

Turning around the axis would make it tilt left/right, steering would make it steer (:+) and A will be speeding up like hell.

They should do a SMK:DS and port over some of the tracks from previous F-Zeros. I remember there being some seriously fun (not necessarily tough) tracks in F-Zero X.

A Zidane masterpiece in 2002 Champion's league final (soccer equivalent of the Superbowl final).

Van Basten's goal makes that one look like a piece of cake ;)

van basten's goal

I think this F-Zero will be really different because of the Rev controls

EAD or bust. Given the choice, I'd much, much rather play F-Zero X than GX. I'd also prefer more cartoonish graphics, than the ultra-realism of GX and its crazy details that were somewhat distracting.

I want better track design. Most of the tracks in F-Zero GX were a breaze. The game didn't really come into its own until the AI shot up in harder circuits. F-Zero GX is one of the best arcade racers I've ever played.

I want Amusement Vision to work on it so I can get a killer soundtrack again.

agreed! the soundtrack in f-zero GX is fantastic - i cant believe so much effort went into just the profiles of the racers, let alone the rest of the tracks. they get me pumped up much more than say the music in wipeout pure, which went too trancy and airy for my liking.

i also agree that GX on master is truly where it shines. nothing beats lateral shift, it's just intensely insane with cars barging you the whole way. now imagine them all being human! now that would be challenging!

Heh, that's exactly what I was thinking about when thinking of an online F-Zero... that each race would only have about 5 finishers.

GX stood out as a spectacular single player game. The best "multiplayer" aspect of it was taking turns playing Time Attack with your friends.

But I hope there's some way to implement it that does not detract from the experience.

- Online
- 60 fps
- Cel-shaded
- Butt rock soundtrack
- Return of the comic book artwork from F-Zero X
- 60 fps
- Random track generator

A bunch of mentions of the random track creator, but no mention of a playable track creator? That's pretty much the only thing more that I could want from F-Zero GX. That and maybe some more characters. Brilliant game already--my third favorite on the GC and somewhere in my top 15 ever.

In addition to some other suggestions already mentioned (improved track design, return of the comic book art, etc.):

- Controlled with the normal shell, not the damn remote
- Just as hard (it took me forever to unlock the AX tracks AND I LOVED IT)
- Better car and track detail

This is what I'm hoping for, not what I'm expecting. :(

Control for this game is going to be spot on. I'd imagine that it will be much easier to control your vehicle with minute hand gestures compared to the earlier analog stick.
Because of this, i'd imagine that top speeds are going to increase quite a bit.

Online is a lock.

Fzero GX is quite possibly the only third party developed Nintendo title that seemed like a AAA effort. Having said that, I would love it if Amusement Vision developed the sequel.

Now what I want:

60 fps
Online
more vehicles
more levels

And whatever else they want to add.

And all you shut up about Wave Race. It's awesome, damn it!!

I had this long-winded well thought out arguement to this but all I really have to say is DIE PLEASE!

well i hated the first one, the n64 one was cool but kinda generic, and i stayed away from the GC version (frustration is not the kind of difficulty i enjoy.)

Basically im expecting a game i have no interest in.

Speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

(btw, find a way to play F-Zero GX in a movie theater. Might make you feel a bit sick, though. :lol)

Bad controls. I can't imagine controlling a racer with a remote would be anything but mind-numbingly stupid. Prove me wrong Nintendo!

I wouldn't necessarily expect F-Zero for Revolution to even exist, considering that the last couple games sold poorly enough to keep the third GBA game from being released in the US.

I fear that too, but an online mode should help sway customers, hopefully :)

Well, the anaolog stick could be used for basic steer, while the remote could be used for acceleration, tilt, slideing, checks, etc.

Well, considering how poorly F-Zero games have sold worldwide, I'm not certain they'll ever make another one.

Perhaps I'm mistaken how much F-Zero sold?

Online or don't even bother making it.

Option to turn the music during the race COMPLETELY OFF, or don't even bother making it

Bring Toshihiro Nagoshi back on board or don't even bother making it.

Track editor would be nice as well, but not it's not critical.

Of course bring back force feedback wheel support.

That's about all I can think of.

The first game is so much of a masterpiece, I haven't even PLAYED it yet!!! But I'm gonna!! :D
