Can we get BP to do a 60fps remaster of Bloodborne? :p

On the other hand, they're obviously a talented studio and I'd like to see how they'd manage an original development.

I don't know why people bring this up.

They are a talented studio from a technical standpoint, sure. They have zero competence actually developing a game from scratch as far as we know. I'm guessing here, but I'm pretty sure that they don't even have a lot of crucial positions for development filled.

All Sony could be sure about, would be that the game would look good and run well. Sony would be buying a cat in the bag. One that you have to restructure as well.
That's obviously not happening. Until Bluepoint themselves actually show the will to develop an original game and have something to show for themselves at the very least.

As a complete performance whore this video made me so happy, it's literally PC levels of performance, with 60fps 99% of the time. Hopefully 2 and 3 are the same although he did mention they dip more often so we'll have to see I guess.

Dont forget the day one patch.

Looks incredible, and I'm really digging DF's videos lately. Watching that made me sad that Bluepoint didn't do the Master Chief Collection. I would be ecstatic if they handled a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster though.

Be interesting to see how UC1 plays. Last time I tried it the combat didn't hold up as well as the other two games, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it feels in action.

Sure, as soon as you give them a console powerful enough to run it I'm sure they'd gladly get to work.

Man, Blue Point is so rad. I don't even like these games and I want to play this for the experience lol

so many changes and no subtle at all, makes me wonder if this has been worked on for a long time now or even if those assets were already made and archived @ND in the first place.

My hope is it'll bring 2 and 3 to the same level of performance as 1 which is perfect according to this video. Bluepoint are getting a house point from me.

Wish they could've used three BD's or one BDXL to max out video bitrate but FMV's still a good improvement from PS3.

There's the odd texture here and there that doesn't have quite as good a weathered look but overall it's a very positive improvement.

I always liked how UDF (as mentioned, like MGS3) renders most of its grass as full polygonal structures with some interactivity.

Drake's Fortune actually had the best shadow quality of the three games I think so the quality improvement's not as pronounced.

Especially in the wood/jungle and torchlight environments, Uncharted 2 and 3 were quite rough.

Digital Foundry is right, Bluepoint did a FANTASTIC job, I've been playing the game for a few days now. Here are some screenshots I took, sorry about facebook compression.

Honestly, Bluepoint really outdid themselves with this collection. This feels more like a remake than a remaster IMO, but let's not dwell on that. The only possible downsides in my book are the dithered shadows and some textures looking different artistically.

Damn, this shots almost highlights a generational leap, or at the very least, a damn significant leap.

P.S. Great article, John, this is what I expect from DF. However, I would have liked more comparisons on the shadows, especially the shadows indoors.

A good article by Dark10x, thank you.

Clearly the remaster is an excellent job by Bluepoint, they deserve significant praise. UC1 has become a better game through the remaster process, not just a prettier one which is a rare accomplishment in the remaster/remake genre.

UI/HUD art's been upres'd nicely for the most part.

NDCudfUIweapon.gif

I think originally the (empty) grenade icons didn't appear until you first grab some but no biggie, SPOILERS: you find grenades! Text, ammo and weapon icons are crisper and more accurate to the PM-9mm, not sure about the 3D model. The background shade graphic hasn't been upres'd but it's only really apparent along the more opaque top and left edges.

Chapter titles are styled with a more directional, soft shadow which is probably matched with Uncharted 2 and 3. The horizontal bars beside the chapter number haven't been updated to match though!

You stare at weapon reticules a lot and extra clarity when aiming, however little is always appreciated.

I already have all of these games, but this looks nice enough that I might pick it up.

Dammit, I'm part of the problem, aren't I? I keep buying HD remasters because I don't feel like digging out old consoles and hooking them up.

In a funny way UC2 will probably the least exciting to play in the remaster despite being clearly the best of the trilogy. UC1 will be much better with a stable framerate and UC3 should pretty much look like a current generation game with the upgrade. UC2 was already a fairly smooth game on PS3 with decent IQ so it'll probably be the least improved.

I wonder how many artists Bluepoint has internally now, how many higher res assets they could pull from the Naughty Dog archives and how much, if any they outsource. Watching the credits, Naughty Dog outsources a lot of art so Bluepoint could even work with the same companies.

There's probably more-obvious artistic inaccuracies in the cutscenes, like the unfocusing of Elena's camera in the coffin closeups.

It's time Rockstar. Pick up the phone, call bluepoint, tell them you would like Red Dead Redemption on Ps4 and Xbox. No problems now, only cash.

That would be awesome so will Demon Souls.

If I see a Demon Souls HD I'm literally going to throw my wallet at my pc screen lol. I was just playing thebgame again the other day, but man 1080p and smoother framerate for certain areas (2-2) would be awesome.

Great to see what they did with UC1, Bluepoint is so damn good when it comes to these remasters

Bluepoint are the remaster gods confirmed. I wish we lived in a world where they handled every remaster.

Probably conjecture because of how good Bluepoint have done with porting this collection but also from working on Gravity Rush HD. They did a good port for the God of War Collection on PS3 also, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony would keep an eye on them. There's plenty of franchises that deserve getting the HD treatment properly and Sony owning them would ensure quality throughout.

I love Drake's Fortune. It's an extremely well paced game.

I may actually get the collection when it drops massively in price on amazon. I've never played 3, so it may be worth it.

Since the PS4 is way faster then the PS3 I think its strange that some of these remasters doesnt have steady 60fps actually that never dips..

The game is 2.25 the pixels, refined assets and models everywhere and double the FPS, that's not minor.

Just so people know, a locked 60fps would probably require a ton more headroom than 'solid 60fps'

Like say if the real framerate is like mid to high 60s, they would have to get it to high 70s to ensure locked 60 even in busy scenes. That's 10fps higher in sacrifice just to get it to locked 60.

A 60fps game just means it capped at 60, just like a 30fps game means its capped at 30
