Tell my waifu I said...hello.

It is indeed. It is the story of a man learning to overcome society's prejudices by leaving his wife for a robot girl. After beating the shit out of "her," of course.

If a robot waifu is programmed to enjoy being beaten, is it still abuse?

You'll notice it's almost always the Gainax fanboys hating. It's part of their jealousy complex due to Gainax dying slowly over the last few years. :(

'Slowly'? It don't believe it was a subtle decline. They were working on classics like Mahoromatic with SHAFT bake in 1999.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure it's meant to creepy and he's meant to be deluded.
Trapped in a twisted dream, he represents the otaku who truly believes in the purity of 2D love, or in this case, robot girl love. It's pretty messed up.
I know, but it feels kind of weird and gross anyway.

Robot Carnival really is like Fantasia... Some good stuff, some crap, and one or two fuck-awesome sequences. I'm going to change my answer to the "Intro" segment because I forgot about it. And that epilogue - lol!

How can you forget about the Robot Carnival in Robot Carnival?

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is the true litmus test for anime hipsters.
The one that Yui, Mio, Ritsu, Mugi, and Azunyan were in was pretty awesome.

oh wait you actually believe that

Well Angel Beats and Oreimo also made the list.

Man that was a garbage poll.

You're just bitter because the voting for Angel Beats was un-ironic. You must have realised Oreimo would do well after it had that massive thread dedicated to it.
"The script is overflowing with the revolutionary energy that always strives to change things. With the hope that this series will become the necessary catalyst to change the world we live in, we award it the Grand Prize."

I like Madoka a great deal, but this is a bit much.
That's some GTA IV level review hyperbole right there.

Tatami Galaxy should have won the GAF poll last year.

Popularity contests are not quality contests. That's why Cowboy Bebop is apparently the greatest anime of all time, according to our poll. It's nothing shocking, it's to be expected!

Wandering Son = faux high-brow animu aimed at hipsters and middle-aged moms

Madoka: honest low-brow animu that's easily accessible and appealing to all

If we're going by 'honest low-brow anime that's easily accessible and appealing to all' than surely you would agree that K-On! is even better than Madoka because the K-On! audience contains a much wider number of non-anime fans, proving it has the broadest appeal.

Give Madoka time to build its fanbase further. Rome wasn't built in a day you know!

Come on, seriously. Who isn't for decadence? Anybody?

*crickets chirping*

I stand by my "moe is like a stick of butter" metaphor.

The problem with genuinely good storytelling is that it doesn't leave a lot of room for cash-in potential.

Unless it's some slice of life thing.

Moe is like a box of chocolates. They look nice on the outside but most of them are filled with weird crap that no normal person would buy on purpose.
