Anything from Shinkai is mono no aware, for one. Other shows with lots of mono no aware include Aria (I'm pretty sure, haven't seen much of this one myself), Tamayura, Sora no Woto, etc, etc... there are plenty of examples.
As for what it is, it's an old Japanese concept about the transience of things, and the sadness at seeing things pass. Usually it's also about accepting that transience and passing, as well, but I think some challenge to that is still acceptable as long as it's still about the core concept. "Appreciate the transience of all things because it heightens their beauty, and be sad about their passing" sums it up.
... Beautiful and yet completely impermanent, is that why Shinkai likes clouds so much?
OH yes that. Love Sound of the Sky sooooo much.
If that is the feeling of mono no aware I know exactly what its like now. Especially with DAT CLASSICAL SOUNDTRACK.

New Prince of Tennis PV - looked a bit compelling, tennis seemed intense at those camera angles and decent character designs may watch it next season, though never experienced the series before.
Am I the only one disappointed that after all the crazy twists and turns of the show and all the themes it's brushed upon, with all of the pathways that were open to Ikuhara and Ikami, at the end of the day KIGA and Sanetoshi are basically

They'll probably find a way to have Shu man up, though I think using Gurren Lagann ep. 11 in your comparisons is being a tad too generous to Guilty Crown.
And just like that all the progress Meat had made has gone out the window. Yozora is a fucking cheater. I also liked how Rika plainly stated saying pervy jokes is basically the whole point of her character and anything else is just fluff.
Surely they could've put some of that $22 million USD towards writing a better ending. Other than that the production values were fantastic. Even the CG was well handled!
I always chuckle when Onodera does that. Well one more episode to go Episode made me wish they had given more time to have episodes based on Ritsu Oda and Takano when they were in high school as form this episode and their discussion it was quite compelling. It was a touching and hilarious episode and the culminating moment was nice animated and in the manga as well.
Madoka Magica dub: Love the voice for Kyubey, Mami, and Sayaka. Kyubey is how exactly I wanted it.
There's a voting list for a Niconico special broadcast of the best and worst anime of the year.

lol... hmmm.... there's something out of place there... I can't quite put my finger on it
Also, as an added bonus, Yamakan had a Charlie Brown moment on twitter when asked about this award show.
To paraphrase "Its gonna be a Yamakan bash-fest. Have fun"

I’ve never really liked anime movies except for a few but I’ve always been a hosoda fan from the moment my young mind came out of that cinema after watching digimon, also loved his one piece movie. Having never seen his most critically claimed movie The girl who leapt through time, I had high expectations for this, it meet those expectations initially only to go screw itself over in the last 35mins.
Is there some sort of law in anime where a movie needs to go all herpa derp near the end, cause I was really enjoying this movie until the 1hour mark, where after it decide to throw an awfully executed shitty plot twist, raising several unanswered questions within the story in a matter of minutes, all for the sake of having some forced drama in the last 35mins.

-Your telling me he noticed that she was time leaping on the day she went back to the start where she had little interaction with chaiki cause she was too busy trying to hook up kosuke with that other girl but he didn’t notice anything thing anything when she would hang around them only to disappear before them only to reappear in from of them rolling or leaping.
-Wait chaiki can’t stay cause his broken some rule about people from the past are not allowed to find out about leaping....wait a minute who set these? Is it a man made future law or a time one and why doesn’t this so called rule not effect aunt witch who so openly told makoto about time leaping and how she used to time leap at makoto’s age and where the bloody hell is he going he said he can’t go back yet he vanishes for the sake of forced drama.
-did I hear that right, so makoto decided to wait for a guy from a distant sounding post apocalyptic future where the population is lot less and the world is no fun, he didn’t even tell her or the viewer what era/year his from.
At first I was sure that aunt witch maybe makoto from the future cause she went through the same things as makoto but that got thrown out the window cause the photo of young aunt witch and her two friends didn’t look like makto and her two friends.

Characters
It’s clear the number 1 reason to watch this movie is for makoto, she a wonderful and fun lively character to watch, where as soon as she shows up on screen you better get ready cause your going to be HNNNNNG so hard your life will be at risk.
But can a movie be carred by the strengths of single great lead character....looks like yes it can, well it has to since all the supporting characters are all paper thin and shallow, with the male love interests being so clichém there the same 2 nice guys(nice pretty guy and nice bro guy) who have been locked in an eternal love triangle since the dawn of manga( this wouldn’t have bothered me so much if I hadn’t read too many romance mangas).
Animation
Its hosoda doing what he does best making extremely fluidly animated characters so full of life with an insane amount of detail to their movements, but the movie is held back by its background which look to had received a hell of a lot less effort in them compared to the characters and like all hosoda movies the characters have that shading and have very little detail looking simple, from far at times they look like blobs, which makes it average looking.
Music score
Completely forgettable, am not even sure it had any music since I don’t remember any of it, except for some track that played near the end, maybe am being unfair on the movie since I watched “the little norus prince” the night before which had a beautiful sound track vastly superior score that am still humming now.
7/10 for makoto alone, I would of gave it a higher score if the last 35mins had never happened.
BWAHAHAHA, I was right! Aki Toyosaki as Medaka! After I listen to her voicing a haughty character I knew a damn long time ago she will be a perfect fit for Medaka.

Even the worst looking episodes in naruto are above most peguin drum episodes, ikaraha is for more shameful when it comes to budget cutting (slideshows, inconsistent art and reuse of what little is animated).
Beyond terrible. Voices do not fit the characters at all and the tone of scenes just seems completely wrong. This is really the best they could do for the biggest property of 2011?
The girl who leapt through time only to fall face first into potholes in the end, sadly

-why wasn’t she able to leap on the roof when chaiki first sent her back but breaks down to tears cause it didn’t work only to later find out she has 1 leap left , contradicting what happened on the roof.
-did I hear that right, so makoto decided to wait for a guy from a distant sounding post apocalyptic future where the population is lot less and the world is no fun, he didn’t even tell her what era/year his from.

-None of those are particularly important to the story, but it's obvious those rules do not apply to Makoto or her aunt who didn't actually come from the future.
-Leap from the roof? What are you even talking about?
-Missing the point
Her aunt is the protagonist of the original novel. It's not really important to the main story though.
In any case, none of those things are actually plot holes, you can dislike the story without making up flaws.

In all fairness, we are talking about a property that, even in the U.S., they're charging $40 for four episodes on Blu-ray. I don't think trying to attract new consumers to the series is their highest priority.
e: This is a weak edit especially after wonzo's comment below (which I don't really have a response to at this time), but as an addendum I'd like to note that the original Japanese trailers and commercials for Madoka were all similar in tone and style to this one.

If attracting new consumers isn't their highest priority then why even bother dubbing it in the first place? Especially when the dub sounds as awful as that trailer implies.
