In terms of indulgent, energetic animation for animations sake, it serves it's purpose very well. This short was very confusing but at least it's clear that the confusion is a deliberate part or the direction, not some random by product. The extremely confusing elliptical cuts (where the scene might cut with one of the characters in the middle of a sentence) certainly makes it near-impossible to work out what's going on, but then again, you aren't really supposed to.
It's certainly a very creative, original and energetic short piece of animation but I don't really care for it. The whole thing is very self indulgent, not so much that it's as offensive as Limit Cycle but still. I'd much rather see shorts like Kizuna Ichigeki.
So AnimeGAF, what titles are still sitting on your backlog that you've been meaning to get around to, but haven't had the time? Watching Otaku no Video lets me cross off a title on my backlog that has been irking me for awhile.
For reference I still really want to get through:
Captain Harlock and the original Space Battleship Yamato.
Of course, those are just the major classics, I have far more titles to consider, but they're at the top of my list.
Ton of movies. For shows, there's some stuff from earlier in the year like Steins;Gate and Freezing. Not a lot of older stuff. Really only Saint Seiya. It's mostly newer stuff like Figure 17, Casshern Sins, Birdy Decode, Kurozuka, and Michiko to Hatchin.
Also got some stuff on hold that I may or may not finish like Trapeze, Dennou Coil, Kyouran Kazoku Nikki, Betterman, GaoGaiGar, Fantastic Children, Hajime no Ippo, Gunslinger Girls, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei S2, and Vampire Princess Miyu.
And I don't know if this would count as backlog, but I do plan on skipping around in Naruto Shippuden, Bleach and Fairy Tail since there are some scenes/fights I want to see animated.
I can't wait to watch mawaru penguin drum tonight. Do you guys think the final episode is going to be godlike? Even if it ends up being a shit finale it was a hell of a ride.

I have a pretty constant rotation of old mecha shows. Layzner, Dougram, Panzer World Galient, that kind of stuff.
The next concentrated thing on my 'watch' list, though, is the 2-episode Nana Toshi Monogatari. The premise is very similar to LoGH (and it's from the same creator), but it's on a much smaller scale.
Nothing really planned after that, but I have lots of other stuff I haven't watched.
Ah, right, forgot to post this yesterday. Like previously, only those four on the left are still in the actual bracket, the rest are bonus matches.
On the topic of backlogs, I wish I could enjoy space opera anime as much as the rest of you seem to do, but it just isn't something I can find myself interested in.

Until Japan comes up with the anime space opera equivalent of Dune, I'm not all that interested either. Space opera has been done to death in Western media already.

Yeah, maybe they disliked that it was half moe antics, half mono no aware drama? It did both so well though, that was actually one of its strongest points, not a weakness!
Also people kept saying it was a K-on clone, which was unfair and not true.
Well, mainly the ending. The nostalgic ending would be him keeping the toys and putting them in a box or something. The :firehawk ending is the one we got.
Goofy enough little gag anime I suppose. The reaction faces are largely priceless. Don't know if I'd watch 13 episodes of this, but thankfully it's only six, so I can enjoy it while it lasts. Things move pretty fast, so there's little in the way of that poor butt-monkey Sakura getting killed over and over. Being Harem Master is Suffering. :3
Dayum... that was definitely NSFW... Eh, it was alright, kind of an anticlimactic end, and the reaction faces weren't as good as they were in the first series. I kind of wish there was more, maybe some narrative closure since I know the series ended. Still, fun stuff.
See, I told you... now you want more too. But at least it's pretty funny while it lasts...
(Oh, and what, you want him to like the other, non-murderous girls more? Bah, that'd take away most of the uniqueness of the show... but yes, you would think he'd mind getting killed so much. He clearly has realized that that's just her way of showing how much she loves him... )
Not always, but it does seem quite common for Shinobus to be like that, yes. One Shinobu that isn't like that that comes to mind is the main character of 2x2=Shinobuden... she's neither shy nor short haired.
Working is pretty much the surprise hit of the season. The first season was just okayish but the season 2 has so many great gags and jokes and more Yamada.

It seems inbetween seasons they figured out that trying to play the show as a low-key casually paced comedy didn't work with the characters they had and that they needed to embrace the moe stereotypes and go straight for silly gags every time.
There are 2 FMA's, one that diverges from the manga and one that doesn't FMA Brotherhood is the one that follows the manga closely, Brotherhood is a bit rough from the start because it redoes a portion of what was already covered in the original FMA.
the only things the original has going for it over is the stuff that brotherhood rushed over and more Sheska. the ending was dumb and the movie was absolute shit.
