Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition

How does the PC version communicate with your phone? It never occurred to me how this would work -- my PC doesn't have bluetooth or built in wifi so I'm not sure how the two devices will talk to each other. Also, I have a Galaxy Note 3 and I just realized it's probably too big to fit in the Pip-Boy. I think I have an old Galaxy S2 laying around somewhere though...

I imagine it would just have to be connected to your home network.

Both devices need to be on the same (local) network. It works if your PC is wired and your phone on wireless.
 
Bah looks like amazon finally let me down, mine wont be here till tomorrow or Thursday. I have an extra key I was planning on giving my brother.

Question:
The key that comes with the pipboy is that just a normal steam key or is it a unique key that displays differently on your steam lib?
 
my Note Edge 4 doesn't remotely fit in the pip boy ;_;

hoping my old droid phone can run the pip boy ap, but frankly I doubt it. thing is ancient and the screen is dying anyway
 
I'm having the biggest issue with my shipping from amazon. They said it would have been delivered by 8pm yesterday nope it's no where to be found I call Amazon furious at the time they couldn't do anything for me but give me a refund. I get up this morning I call the currior service Amazon is using now called A1International(which btw sucks so much) they also have no clue. Now I'm on the phone for 2nd time with Amazon and they still can't do anything for me. Man this is so unfair I get to miss out on this because of how horrible Amazon shipping.
 
Not getting all the complaints. It's quite nice for what you pay. Foam padding on the inside, a real metal latch, the buttons and knobs are properly clicky. It looks great lit up with the app running inside.

I think it actually looks really cool, not disappointed in the slightest.
The velcro strap is awkward and could be better but ehhh... I have a working Pip-Boy on my arm!

You're not alone. My shipment now says it's coming thursday. I don't get it. Are Amazon reps told to lie to the customer to keep them happy for 5 minutes? They said it would be here today even though they must have known it was a couple days out for me.
 
Mine changed from Tuesday to Thursday, ordered in the first few mins orders went up, although I did change my shipping address a week ago. Switched to one day shipping and now it says coming tomorrow, preparing shipment. Here's hoping everything works out from now on! Sadly I sold it to my roommate because he's a bigger FO fan and I don't really need another large plastic thing to put up. But I won't have my own copy until it gets here so grrr. 👺

That's what probably screwed you. Doing that puts you at the end of the line in orders.
 
I'm interested to see what people do to this thing to modify it. I'm sure people can make it look quite a bit better, but I'm not really the handy type so I'd be curious to see what people do and how they do it.

Is there such a thing as matte paint? I'd paint it somehow. Not getting it though.
 
Amazon fucked me. Ordered it back in June. Needed it to arrive today (the 10th) because I leave for vacation tomorrow and the package will either get stolen or damaged by the time I returned. I contacted Amazon a few days ago to make sure it would arrive today, they guaranteed it. Now it says arriving tomorrow because they realized that the warehouse near me did not have the stock. I'm still talking with customer support. Fucking Amazon and this bullshit.
 
Mine came in. Right before I had to head to work. Least I can install the game while I'm gone and I already broke the light on top (trying to find what turns on the pip boy). It still looks ok like that though so oh well. Least I know it's not sitting on my stoop waiting to be stolen while I am at work.

There is. There's also a special kind that you set and it gives a really crinkly bumpy finish.

But for anyone who wants to mod their Pip-Boy, why not vinyl wrap it? It's basically like a big rubber sticker so if you don't like it you should be able to take it off again and return it to normal.

I've had issues with release day delivery lately as well. Seems like lots of people are. I wonder what's going on with Amazon and their distribution model to have so many errors happening lately?
 
Just retrieved this wondrous box from my local retailer... I have kept thinking over and over about whether to sell it or keep it... I'm a big fan of Fallout, but not big enough to keep collectibles around my place.

It's pretty neat, but seeing as the app is usable without the casing, it looks like I may sell it off after all...

What kind of sealed the decision for me is that the knobs are non-functional and don't interact with the app at all, as far as I know. It's a bit of a disappointing development for me, but I'm sure someone else will be more than happy to have it.
 
I'm pretty annoyed with the build quality. A button after a single push already broke. Anyone know how to depress the top button next to the scroller thing?
 
After months and months of saying I'll be getting it today, it's coming tomorrow.

I mean yay, but still. I'm pissed that after 5 months of saying it'll be here on release, it's not.
 
I actually forgot i orderd this (i was sure i canceled my order a few months), and this was delivered today to me. I'm not sure i will keep it as the cost it's way beyond i should be spending these months on videogames.

On the other side, it's a beautiful thing D:

Can't you have it held by UPS or re-routed? Or delivered to someone you know? Check out MyUPS or whatever it's called. I've used it before to re-route.
 
I finally got an answer as too why mine was cancelled from bestbuy. Apparently what ever warehouse I drew from, was short 60 units, and it was a random draw. I was one of the unlucky ones.

for my trouble they gave me a 15 dollar giftcard, which I used on the gold bundle...

Not yet but I will be tonight. I bought that phone for this and have been running the app and it works just fine. Though I haven't tested it with the game yet obviously since it hasn't arrived yet.
 
Anyone try it with a LG G3 yet? I was banking on the fact that it was just a tiny bit bigger than the Galaxy S5 (basically, start cutting the foam or remove the foam entirely), but now I hear problems fitting the s5 so now I'm worried. :-(
 
UPS just dropped off all my stuff from Amazon. Very cool.
