So just beat this last night, what's the word on the DLC? Worth it? I see they all got very mediocre reviews. I loved much of the FO3 DLC. Would I be disappointed by NV DLC?
Stay clear of Dead Money. Very very clear. I went in thinking it couldn't be as bad as everyone said it was. I was so fucking wrong.
Best DLC is probably Old World Blues.
The DLC for NV is all pretty great, with Old World Blues being the best.
A lot of people didn't like Dead Money, I didn't mind the change of pace. I'd put it above Honest Hearts, personally.
Mediocre reviews? Where did you get that? New Vegas' DLC is assuredly the best expansion-style DLC ever and it's directed by the one and only Chris Avellone, so really, they're amazing. So just beat this last night, what's the word on the DLC? You are setting expectations mighty high for me because ive only just done Dead Money and i was beyond satisfied with it.Stay clear of Dead Money. Very very clear. I went in thinking it couldn't be as bad as everyone said it was. I was so fucking wrong.

Usually those two opinions go together, so it's not really that weird.I couldn't stand OWB. It was a slog to finish for me.
Weird as it sounds, Honest Hearts is my favourite DLC expansion.
But my one and two are OWB and HH.Usually those two opinions go together, so it's not really that weird.
To be honest, I wouldn't know about balance since I was playing modded and on very high difficulty (the latter I now regret). It felt kinda hectic and tense, and I was always low on ammo/health/etc., so for me it was pretty good.Dead Money has an awesome instance of Speech skill application, best in the whole game. And it's got a System Shock 2 vibe. They just needed to rebalance the villa and its mechanics a bit.
Well, that's quite alright, but the answer I was looking for, from anyone trying the DLC out, is "MY FAVORITE BE ALL OF THEM NEW VEGAS IS AWESOME".But my one and two are OWB and HH.
I don't think so.Hm those opinions are all over the place. But looks like most of the DLC is better than I thought. I'll be buying into some.
I started it up after playing 24 hours in 2010, hadn't played it since. Played 20 hours past couple weeks and beat the game, but my Fallout craving is not quite satisfied yet.
Also does world of pain require any DLC?
I don't think so.
Also I recommend buying all the DLC (they'll be on sale on Steam one of these days no question about it) and playing them in release order.
Dead Money -> Honest Hearts -> Old World Blues -> Lonesome Road (some great names, these DLC had)Just bought all 7 Of the DLC on steam for 13 bucks.
Downloading now, how do I know which one is which in game? In order to play them in release order.k
Dead Money -> Honest Hearts -> Old World Blues -> Lonesome Road (some great names, these DLC had)
I suggest you just enable them one at a time so you don't accidentally play them out of order, but if not, you should first go to the grand opening of the Sierra Madre casino, then join the Happy Trails caravan, then go to the Midnight Sci-Fi Show and finally answer Ulysses' call and walk the Divide.
I also recommend leaving the DLC to somewhat of a midpoint through the game.
If you're a nazi.I'd avoid Dead Money altogether.
Oh, I don't completely disagree. It was a slog at times. My irrational love for Fallout lore and Obsidian's take on the universe was really the only thing that kept me going :lolLore is fine but tedious enemies, claustrophobic environments, traps everywhere, losing your stuff...ugh

If you can get to the Antenna weapon you'll find it makes much of the DLC easier, as it stuns robot enemies. You gotta be fuckin kidding me with OWB.
It started out ok, funny introduction, seemed like it'd have an interesting plot...I leave the sanctity of the think tank and instantly the game starts throwing packs of 4 or 5 tough enemies at me at a time. "OK," I think, "Must just be this one crazy area." Nah. Best I can tell the entire world is one big masochistic combat arena. Escape one fight, find yourself immediately in another.
The thing is, even if I was a higher level or had better weapons or whatever, for me Fallout is fun because of its storyline and characters, definitely not for its combat. Basically I've taken to just trying to run from place to place, but inevitably I get killed at some point.
So yeah, I'm pissed because my only save is way, way earlier in my playthrough, and you can't exit the DLC world without completing it. Guess I'm done with the game.
New Vegas in the Skyrim engine is a dream of mine.Aye, fallout with skyrim engine, where are you?

I think I'd quit gaming and just play that 24/7...
I'd prefer an engine that allowed some epic battles. The Hoover Dam Battle is such an anti-climactic, laughably-bad event, after gearing up the better part of the game for the epic clash between the NCR, Legion, and Mr House.
Yeah, though I can't imagine any version of Gamebryo being capable of such a featI'd prefer an engine that allowed some epic battles. The ideal thing would be to buy it on PC, but if that's out of your possibility for whatever reason, then yeah, most likely you won't find it cheaper.I bought FO:NV the day it was released, and beat it shortly after.
Have recently had the desire to play the DLC. I own it on PS3. Would the cheapest option be just buying a GOTY edition of the game that includes all the DLC? I already have a copy of the game, but it seems like re-purchasing the GOTY edition would be cheaper than buying the DLC individually...?

"Project Brazil is a quieter, more harsh and severe world than Fallout 3 or New Vegas," writes modder Thaiauxn. "It feels like a real place spotted with rare moments of absurdity and fear, split between multiple rising civilizations all trying to fight for what they want or need in a world recovering from the Great War."
"This mod adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18, embarking on a quest to a hidden complex called 'Brazil' in the ruins of Los Angeles. Along the way, you'll discover a pitched battle between the Survivalist Army, the New California Republic, and The Super Mutants, which shapes the politics and events leading to the NCR's invasion of the Mojave. The story takes place in 2260many years before the 'Courier' awakes in New Vegas, while the Enclave struggles to rise again on the West Coast."
whoops yeahWrong quote?
