Famitsu Most Wanted Chart

Which is ironic because both FFXV and KH3 don't even have release window and they're both in top 5. What's more, they're on a console that hasn't release in their country.

Both also come from long-lived and well established franchises, X does not.

OP, did you have access to how many votes each game received, or is the list just a list of the game names?

Mario Kart 8 is up there, but not that Zelda Musou title. That seems odd to me.

Zelda isn't that popular in Japan, and Mario Kart is one of the most popular of Nintendo's first party offerings.

We also don't know much of anything about Zelda Musou, yet. Compared to games like Sengoku Musou and BASARA, which come out in just a short matter of time (BASARA this very week), and are both long-awaited sequels, at that? It makes much sense for the hack-n-slash fan to be focused on those games, first.

I would say, let's see what happens once Zelda Musou information starts to come in on a regular basis. Which should hopefully be soon, if they intend to stick tothat Summer 2014 timeframe.

The Evil Within made it twice by splitting the platform... that's odd. Would have expect MGSV twice as well.

I'm glad Japan is taking an interest in XV, because I really don't want it to bomb. The west isn't nearly as faithful these days and XIII did some damage.

I'm surprised The Last Remnant PS3 got booted out from the list.

no chance at all? :(

How many more mechs would they need to show to convince Japan to be more hyped?

Please correct me if I am wrong but I think all JRPGs on the Wii sold bad despite of the large hardware base. I'd guess that the majority of Japanese J-RPG fans are on handhelds or on PS3 (probably PS4 later) which undermines the prospects of X being represented in such a survey?

...well, at least Vita managed to get one game slipped in there.

And it's a Monster Hunter clone too. And that's why Vita seems so chock full of them, hahaha.

Looking forward to a US release.

I see a lack of Smash bros for Wii U on the list. Worst decision to make the game multiplatform?

Though maybe this decision was made ahead of time, I think it MIGHT be smart in hindsight.

If the Wii U version bombs, the 3DS can pick up the slack with sales just like the system situation.

However, I'd release the Wii U Smash a bit ahead of time to make it torturous for those to wait.

Didn't expect Persona Q to be so high while Dancing All Night is MIA. I may have underestimated the power of fan service + Etrian Odyssey.

For all the talk about consoles being "dead" in Japan, there sure are a lot of console titles on that list.

They poll people who read their magazines so it's not that unexpected, given that Famitsu covers mostly console and handheld games. They orobably have another Famitsu mobile or something like that.

Also, console games tend to do quite well on their weekly charts. The Last Remnant managed to be there for years despite its quiet cancellation.

Is this strictly for announced titles for 2014? I want me my Last Guardian....

For any announced titles. Even The Last Remnant was hanging on after no word from SE for years. I wonder what that says about The Last Guardian :p

I'm positively surprised to see FFXV remain anticipated despite XIII series taking a huge dump on the brand name, plus the lack of updates on the title. Hopefully SE starts shedding some more light on it soon.
Both of those are developed by the KH team, and they haven't screwed a game up yet. I believe Japan favors Nomura as well, but I'm not positive.

Putting Smash Bros on 3DS looks like it's really going to hurt the WiiU version in Japan. Should have created two separate games instead and released them in different years like they do with Mario Kart.

What the... the one western game that breaks in is Watch Dogs... which is the one western game we've pretty much kinda forgotten exists. Huh.
Also, nice to see somebody giving The Evil Within some love. Westerners need to get on that shit and stop whining about it not being scary enough. Nothing Mikami has ever made was really scary, but it was always still hype as shit... so get fucking hyped!

Yes, but then again The Phantom Pain isn't coming out any time soon (2015 seems to be the most likely year of rleease). So, people are probably just expecting to have a PS4 by then.

That footage that was shown of a male running from a (chainsaw?) wielding man was instense and imo, terrifying.
