If only they had shipped 100k copies for Unicorn. Game is solid. I hope that the drop next week isn't massive, but I expect at least a 80% drop.

FFVIIR physical bombing everywhere, it seems. I'll get it for around $30.
"bombing" huh, do you know what bombing means?

man, considering it is the highest rated FF game since XII, one of the absolute best games square enix has released in nearly two decades, I really hope the game is doing better worldwide, this could be a major case of too many games, and content overload. It's not just FF, it's palworld, hell divers, yakuza, persona, etc all coming out in feb/march..... plus the gamepass/ps plus content, it's a lot harder to digest a game than it is a movie.

Very good point.

Did they not advertise this game at all?

It seems like FF16 got a much bigger marketing push
a lot of games post ps4 era have been doing super well with metacritic pushing high average scores.... but yea maybe the marketing wasn't to par with something like elden ring or god of war..... I also tbh don't thnk spidey or god of war would have sold as high as they did if they weren't bundled with the console. There is a decline in software sales this gen for PS, and it is imo partly to do with content overload and psplus/gamepass, those models condition people to not buy full price and just wait for the game to release on sub services.

Unicorn Overlord is a fantastic game. Super happy to see it do well

FF7 Rebirth is also fantastic and those numbers man. Ouch.

Possibly a missed opportunity for Atlas unless everyone who couldn't find Unicorn Overlord bought it online. Expect it to chart high on eShop and PS Store.
Comments in last thread: "this was only preorder numbers for FF7R"

LMFAO
That arguement never made any sense.

It certainly isn't "bombing everywhere".

You guys care so much about scores/metascore that forget about what consumers want or not.

If score was that so much of important Deathloop would be the best selling game of the gaming history.
I get what you are saying but the praise is equal from gamers. Deathloop is 88 meta, 6.7 user. Rebirth is 92 meta, 9.0 user - with more user reviews than Deathloop.

Metacritic scores are highly correlated with sales. A few cherry picked examples don't change that.

Does FFVII rebirth releasing on a Thursday possibly effect this?

Apparently low shipment for Unicorn Ovelord for Switch.

Side note, I had hard time trying to find copy in area. Bestbuy was sold out and Amazon was back ordered!

Indeed, I do.

The game has not met sales expectations, but we'll wait for the next investors meeting for it to be announced.
no, that would mean, "sales did not meet expectations". Bombing would entail it failed miserably and they won't finish the trilogy, that doesn't seem to be the case.

It seems that making FF7 Rebirth Exclusive to PS wasn't a great idea since it seems that PS gamers aren't interested in JRPG'S. Hopefully if they do make Part 3 instead of cancelling it due to poor sales of Part 2 that they will release it Day 1 on Xbox, PC and Switch 2. I hope Part 2 sells better on Steam when it gets a release.

JRPGs do tend to have pretty steep drops, so this isn't surprising.

Does FFVII rebirth releasing on a Thursday possibly effect this?
No, since XV and XVI also released on Thursday.

Xbox won't have added much, and there's no Nintendo hardware out that could currently run it. I do think it would have been good to put it on PC though.

Still a big decline from Dragon's Crown, if we give heat to square we gotta give it to Vanillaware as well. Japanese gamers are buying less hardcore games, it is getting so obvious to me. Also they definitely need to go back to Dragon Crown, both 13 sentinels and unicorn overworld put them in a tough financial situation, they need a big hit again

I know it’s also install base be ps4 in 2020, but there over 5 million ps5 consoles supposedly sold in Japan, are you telling me the 750k + buyers of VII in just 3-4 years said they weren’t getting the better sequel? Like it’s a steep drop from 773k to 287k…… and digital was pretty high in 2020 due to Covid …… Are gamers just streaming/ps plusing or playing free 2 play in Japan on PS? Literally what has crossed 1 million in sales for PS in Japan this gen?

Yes your absolutely text book cherry picking or confirmation bias. Your picking a small number of games to prove your point and not looking at the full data.

To not cherry pick you have to have a sample size of hundreds maybe thousands games. Come back to me when you that.

Hint. Luckily for you others have already done the research and guess what higher scoring games on AVERAGE sell more than lower scoring games.

Unicorn Overlord is SRPG which is already niche genre and it came out in super busy year and close to FFVIIRebirth which is big game…..so I would the game did pretty damn well despite all of that.

Also they wont go back to Dragon Crown because Vanillaware doesn’t do sequels and I’m fucking love about them.

The worst part of FF7R situation is that it fail to sell the PS5 as Sony expected. What other game they have for this year to move consoles in Japan??…But, I really didn’t expect that the Switch was going to win the battle in Japan this year without any big tittle and especially vs FF7R… But looks like that’s is exactly what’s is going to happen.

I had give you more than cherry pick examples, but yeah keep this argument without proving nothing.

Tired of this conversation you know, that type or argumentation where you asking everything and give nothing. From here I'll not reply anymore.
