Strong legs for DK still and Demon Slayer got a restock on Switch. DxM looks like a bomb though.

Price promotion for PS5 has a strong effect.

It's obvious that if Sony wished for PS5 could be selling healthy numbers in Japan. That's what happens when you go from having people that understand gaming to people that look at the stock market first and don't realize that playing the long game is more important. Suits near videogames have basically destroyed the industry.

At this point I truely believe execs at Sony want people to invest into PC instead of their Playstation. I just don't see another point of their current price strategy.
My guess is they're more or less happy with user base + subscription numbers and are trying to cover some of the increased R&D and upcoming manufacturing costs for the next console.

That would be suicide for them. If that were true they wouldn't be investing on a PS6 that will have a handheld and a traditional PS.

Sony will never have PC as their main focus for one reason: PS store.

They make 100% of the money from their games in there and 30% of everything 3rd party. Imagine how catastrophic for them it would be if people stopped to find a reason to invest on their own ecosystem and just move on to steam? Sony would be getting only 70% of their games sold and nothing from 3rd party stuff. Their biggest money making machine is that store.
They are literally looking for ways to make the PS6 cheaper to produce as we speak, by not making weird designs like the PS5 for a reason. They want this to be a mainstream product, not something niche. Then the handheld as well. PS Portal is sold for 200 bucks which is accessible. That makes me think they will keep that up for the PS6 portable (even if that's going to allow games to be played natively...so around 400 bucks maybe)

Oh yes I agree, but they are commiting suicide since 2020. Maybe selling their games and transactions on Steam is their endgame. No more investing and risking billions into hardware. It's working for Rockstar.

Of course they are gravely mistaken. In a few years, Playstation will be a shadow of its PS4 peak.

Chill…PS5 is like 2M below the PS4 at this point. How are they committing suicide?

Did you read the rest of my post? They have no interest on people leaving their ecosystem and going to steam .

I swear to god Sony might be the dumbest idiots on Earth sometimes. THIS SHOULD BE THE PERMENANT JAPAENSE PRICE!!!
Sony have an issue with people buying PS5 to export to the Chinese market when they lower the price, which is less than the price the PS5 have in China. That's why you don't see a correlation between hardware bump and software sales this gen in Japan. Still they can do some strategies like Nintendo to prevent this…

But this is a terrible reason to not have the correct price in Japan.

Probably Sony executives thinks that is not worth the effort and don't represent and immediate return in the investment.

This is bean-counter thinking. I'd hope they aren't thinking that anymore.

I wonder if they did something like what Nintendo does (make it Japanese only)... would sales really increase if the discounts just mean more gray shipping to China.

But at least somebody in China will have a PS5. I'd assume they'd spend money on games and accessories in China from that point going forward.

Ps5 need a very big and permanent price cut in Japan just to at least slim down Switch lead. The price of ps5 is a major hindrance for Japanese to buy ps5 along with few Japan centric exclusives. And as early as possible, release PSPnext in Japan. Bring back Sony Japan studio AA and A exclusives.
