Wowee. So it’s a win in terms of Sony’s revenue but a loss in terms of the # of gamers buying and playing their console/games.

The game is going to sell really good… but Hardware sales are not going to be “massive” as some people think IMO

Yep. Good for short term revenue, exec bonuses etc. But very bad for long term of the Playstation brand. Their aim is clearly PC and milking the money they can on Playstation hardware, while they are still producing them.

At some point they hope to make billions on PC (with GAAS, creatively bland Ubisoft-style AAA games) so they could stop doing consoles. It won't work obvioulsy but the current bosses don't care as they'll have their bonuses.

Guess Switch has finally started winding down after the successor's announcement? Unless it bumps back up after different marketing/game releases of course (or if it only cements after April's blowout). Well, the potentially winding down numbers are still the envy of every other platform, lol.

They could opt for a separate entry. World did too good without being on Switch, if it's everywhere maybe the total sales will just be divided in different ratios rather than expand. Rise didn't reach World heights but likely didn't cost nearly as much and still left every other game in the series (that was already successful previously) in the dust. So, Wilds could remain home system only selling to potentially all the World fans regardless of platform with another new and also very successful portable game coming later (after Switch 2 has an actual install base to take advantage of). Unless they just want to consolidate development to one main MH game only while other teams do different stuff of course. But really it's up to whatever marketing and development strategy they opt for, I don't think it's so clear cut, financially or otherwise, if it's best to make a port or a different game. On the other hand maybe they don't think Wilds will reach all of World's audience without being on every platform out, market conditions are perhaps very different and World came very late in the PS4 generation vs Wilds being early, if not in actual years then in market penetration. We'll see I guess.

Rise on Switch outsold World physically, but we don't know if it did with digital included.

But of course PS5 doesn't have the selling power that PS4 did. If Switch 2 has similar selling power to Switch, then the Switch 2 MH will sell more.

Switch has sold more at the start of 2025 than it did at the start of 2024. So no wind down yet.

Decent number for ps5 pro. MHW will accelerate its sales. If the west is waiting for GTA 6 f to result in big ps5 sales number, Japan is waiting for MHW to result in big ps5 sales number.

Unless I missed one there are only 4 Sony published games on that list and Mario Kart 8 outsold them all combined in it's 7th year. Also the two girly games of Zelda and Princess peach outsold all of them.

PS6 will be all digital as there's no point taking up shelf space.
