Can't sustain a market on meager console sales alone. Also this is BEFORE pokemon comes out , what do you think is about to happen ?

Seems like since this year's 1st week Sony has increased their Japan deliveries. Those 5k weekly sales were honestly depressing. Near 20k this week is at least acceptable.
Hopefully the rest of the year is better.

But that doesnt mean that this week's numbers aren't (at worst) ok.

PS future in Japan is still bleak though. And will almost certainly remain like that.

I never mentioned anything about software and and I don't have to "cope" with video game sales.

All I'm saying is that for a platform that was doing 2,000 - 3,000 in some November/December weeks, doing 18,000 in January is a good improvement.

I honestly dont even understand what happened over the past decade.

On a very basic level, the answer is that PlayStation's success in Japan has always been based on its third party partners being able to deliver a lot of software that appealed to the market. But in recent years, Japanese third parties have (with some exceptions) not been able to appeal to the Japanese market very well. Nintendo on the other hand has been very good at doing this for the past 15 years.

It's not a Gen Pokemon game. I might be wrong, I'm not a Pokemon enthusiast.

It is a mainline Pokémon, in the same way Sword/Shield and Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl are mainline Pokémon. What Arceus Legends is not is the "Gen 9" mainline Pokémon. That will be something else.
