Fantasy Football Discussion Thread - 2017 Season

Well great - just got an alert from sleeperbot that Cards are looking at picking Chris Johnson back up. Fuck. Stick with Kerwynn Williams please. My team can't take this.

Fuuuuuuu that sucks for D.Johnson owners.

Curious if Chris Johnson gets picked back up and if so will he be lead back again.

Don't waste a waiver claim on a kicker. If you want to pick him up, okay, although you don't really need to as Crosby is fine. But definitely don't use a waiver on him. Just wait until he becomes a FA.

I'm not sure who RB Murray is. Do you mean DeMarco Murray or Latavius Murray?
Sorry I meant to say Rob Kelly. Also I'm pretty sure we're dropping our waiver wire in place of open free agency so I'm not really worried about losing a waiver position

I put in waivers for Oakland's kicker cause holy Christ he's good and offered up Watson. Also put in a waiver for Washington's RB Murray.
Don't do it.

He has a great game but he was also unemployed for 5 years, basically practice squad fodder for several teams. If he couldn't beat out kickers for a job, he can't be that good. The reason he got the Oakland gig is the special teams coach had him on the practice squad on the 49ers years ago.

I wonder if having a top 6 draft pick is actually not an advantage at all or maybe even a disadvantage?

The +plus is that you increase your chances of significant points from a single position but the -negative is that it puts more weight on one player who has an equal chance of getting injured as any other RB1 or WR1.

I suspect they'll bring CJ back.
I also suspect that even if they didn't they'd split carries between Kerwynn Williams and Ellington.
They were willing to go the "feature back" approach with Johnson but I've seen no indication they intend to go that route with anyone else. Expect an RBBC platoon.
If Kerwynn was a true handcuff, more David Johnson owners would have owned him and he wouldn't be available on virtually every waiver wire.

I'm gonna try for Cohen but the players of my league are rb focused so I doubt I'll get him.

The person with DJ in our league is pretty clueless and doesn't care too much and I was trying to convince her to trade DJ for low value. Now I'm not sure if it's a good idea to trade for him, what are the chances he comes back and still has value?

Dude if they IR him it's a waste

Have the #1 waiver pick this week..

I was already a little RB-shy, I have DeMarco Murray/Kareem Hunt/Doug Martin.

Cohen worth blowing the waiver load?

Woof, time to start RB hunting. Low waiver so I doubt I'll get Cohen. Carson could be a good option if he can supplant Rawls. Maybe I'll get lucky and Mixon will take over the Bengals backfield.

No, you're fine

So if I can trickconvince her to trade I should? Because I already have 6 RBs, I just have to convince her he's not worth keeping and offer one of mine. Also hope no one else has the same plan...

Wait until they definitively say how long he's out

The guy didn't just have a great game he nailed 2 over 50 yarders as down the middle as you can get. I don't think that's too luck based. It's possible he regresses sure but it's also possible some dumb coaches didn't realize what they had. For whatever reason I've seen it time and time again in the NFL. They don't know how to evaluate kicking (prob cause they hate it so much lol) and you get stuck with shitty kickers meanwhile if your practice squad guy finally get's called up he nails every shot for the rest of the season no problem. I guess they can, unlike other positions, they can be really hot and cold too which makes them hard to scout.

Anyway I'm going to ake your advice and stick with a known quantity.
Kickers are set it/forget it for me mostly

Defenses are too

Kickers yeah. I'm just curious about this Oakland guy cause I really want any advantage over my coworkers. As for D I disagree. A great D (if there is one that year) can be the difference maker in a tight league or game for sure. Yeah Baltimore isn't going to score 30 points every game pitching shutouts but a reliable top tier D that nets you anywhere from 10-17 points a game is a good edge to have in my mind. Precisely bc most people do like yourself and slot anything in there so if you're pretty evenly matched up and they're running GB defense and you have Vikings you got that matchup

Thielen should have already been grabbed in any league that knew what they were doing.
Dude's a bonafide talent.

Also, ODB is not on the IR. He's just inactive this week. You're going to spook some of his owners.
I'm in a smaller 8 person league and our "IR" doesn't necessarily mean IR - it's an injury/out slot that frees up a slot in the roster which allowed me to grab Thielen. Was down a WR prior because DeVante Parker's game was cancelled/delayed.

I lucked out this week with Fournette and Hunt - my gut was right.

I need that NO/MIN game to be a goddamn shootout because I have Bradford/Brees/Ginn in various leagues

Rudolph, Cook, and Ingram can sit right down though

Only person I need to do well is Lutz. I have players from both teams in other leagues but the match is basically already decided

though if Ingram gets like 10000 that'd be great

Yeah definitely not sitting and forgetting on D fuck around and get -5 points easily.

Thank God for a sloppy week 1, managed to win my money league 95 to 88, never have I been so happy to see Jason Witten get a touchdown pass instead Ezekiel Elliot.

Im the left team...nervous Brees or Broncos D goes off and I lose tonight

Thomas is the one who will win it or lose it for you. My guess is you need 70 and TD to lock it down.

Pray Brees always throw the ball to Thomas.

If Brees goes off Michael Thomas probably goes off too, that's his best receiver

and defenses are variable as shit

I hope. But Xavier Rhodes will probably be on him all game so Brees might target his other Targets more often.

So as a DJ owner without Kerwyn Williams and #9 on WW, how screwed am I?

Edit: actually I think it resets after the week is over and the person who scored the most goes to last.... I scored the most by far.(looking at 160+ and second place at 120)

Sounds like it might be a rbbc so you might not want him anyway.

I should bench my players for tonight and throw the game. Need the waiver wire pickups.
If there's a week to do it, Week 1 is probably it.
That said, it's tactics like this that make me happy most of my leagues have adopted a FAAB waiver system that isn't as easily exploited.

I wish my work league did FAAB but seeing as how we're still doing standard and not ppr (i'd prefer .5 ppr instead of standard) it'd be a hard sell

oh well

no way Ellington survives very long though.

Maybe I should just go for Cohen.

My other 2 RBS are Hunt and James White btw.

Oh and I have Hunt's handcuff.
True, as a multiple time owner of Ellington I can attest to his soon injury. Tarik Cohen is a good choice too, he looked good on Sunday.
