will there be a pre-load for this game on Origin?
The next region to get the game seems to be Eastern Europe (a little over 4 hours), followed by the rest of Europe and Asia* (a little over 6 hours). I assume these unlock times apply to the Uplay version of the game as well.
* Excluding Japan, as per usual.

I really don't like how the game looks at all. IQ is all sorts of fuzzy.
I have to agree, looks indeed fuzzy (can't think of a more appropriate word), might need some serious downsampling.
how much VRAM do you have?Crossfire doesn't seem to work. What a surprise.
Also, is there some kind of object view distance setting or something? I keep seeing some kind of strange pop-in for objects and textures in general. They kind of just slowly show-up with a strange grainy/pixelated effect. Hard to explain, but I remember it happening a lot in Far Cry 3 as well.
I am running everything on high/very high with textures on ultra.
If this is anything like Far Cry 3, then ultra post processing adds pretty strong FXAA. You need to modify the GamerProfile.xml file in a certain way to remove it. I'll have to look that up. But that's probably why the image quality looks suspect on a lot of screenshots.
I still don't think looks much better than Far Cry 3. Better grass I guess. Same RANK looking depth of field though (ugh).
Yeah, there are plenty. I'll edit in a couple of screenshots in a moment.

I dont see options to turn off the enemy tagging/highlight/xray vision.
Is that somewhere else or not there at all?

For AMD Xfire users, AFR friendly profile roughly doubled my FPS but introduced flickering on skybox and some distant terrain. There is no inherent FC4 profile yet![]()
I'd say not being able to disable the enemy marker is intentional since tagging is a game mechanic.
Anybody with an i5 3570k and a 770 4GB getting good performance at max?
same card, hoping for good stuff
so does a vpn unlock this game now?
Is it more critical than it was in FC3? I turned it all off for that and got by just fine.
How do I get rid of the crushed blacks? SSAO instead of HDAO+?
I assume the 770 4GB is considerably better than the R9 280x 3GB, and I can max everything out on Ultra (1080p). Frame-rate fluctuates between lower 40's and upper 50's during busy scenes, rare drops to 35 when shit's firing from all places, and 60 during the less busy scenes. Runs well as far as I'm concerned. I'd say you're golden, I don't expect the CPU to bottleneck you that much (I myself have a 4670K).

That DoF looks a lot better if you downsample, it looks pretty decent at 4k. But at 1080P it looks low-res and ugly.
Can someone clear a picture quality question up for me?
Should I downsample and turn off AA? Or use AA and downsample? or just use AA?
That's the same as in Far Cry 3, but it doens't mean the DoF is good. It's some really crappy gaussian blur. Nothing at all like the beautiful DoF you get in Unity or Alien Isolation.
could be a dumb question but new to PC and noticed this much more than consoles. Is this b/c the PC game is not vsync by default and if not, I'm assuming vsync will take up more performance yet you get no screen tearing? I've been using adaptive in the Nvidia panel but this game seems to display screen tear even with that on.
And again this game has no 21:9 support. Is it really that hard?
The Far Cry 4 development team has been working very hard in anticipation of launch and will continue to do so in post-launch updates and ongoing support for the game and its community. For the optimal Far Cry 4 experience, we highly recommend you download our Day 1 patch through Uplay or Steam.

If you have the Steam version, yes; if you have the Uplay version, no; if you have the Origin version, you're stuck waiting until release before you download a single byte, anyway.
I don't think so. It functions identically to its FC3 counterpart, unless something changes later into the game.
what...?this game has some very nice graphics options, i dont understand why this is so well optmized and unity is not. this is running on everything maxed out at 60+fps with my 680. easily.
Looks like SLI support is coming with the Day 1 patch according to the notes
what vpn should i use? and which location?

what...?
This game looks nearly identical to Far Cry 3 in terms of visuals and post-processing.
Has anything changed?
It will probably be a fix to get the issues with the Far Cry 3 bits worked out.The issue isn't that the game itself doesn't support SLI; it's that there are no SLI bits. Nvidia needs to update the game's profile.

There's no DirectX 9 path for this game, I think. You shouldn't really be concerned. It sounds like a GPU driver and/or game configuration problem that you experienced with Far Cry 3.
Gotcha, with FC3 I too throttled shadows back and disabled motion blur to get my frames near 60.mind you, i also have 32gb at 2600 and a 4790k OCéd, so that helps, but yes, motion blur off since i dont use that crap and shadows to medium since i dont care bout them either and its 60fps easily
For those saying RTSS isn't working, mine seems to be working just fine (its combined with HWinfo the extra stuff).
