Far Cry Instincts - IGN Xbox Review

That got old real quick. Why would you holler out to your enemy something like that? It sounded so stupid.
Yes, all of the dialog was rather stupid. It WAS extremely entertaining, though.

I would have enjoyed a segment where you get caught and captured only to have all of the enemies stand up and yell "We're gonna shoot you in the face" in unison.

Awww, they got rid of the yelling?

They should have slipped an "I'm gonna shoot you in the face" joke in there somewhere...

They still yell, only this time their yelling makes a little more sense and is varied. :lol

:lol And I was actually considering going back and finishing the game. Thanks! :D

Oh god, don't make me remember. Far Cry should, under no circumstances, every play like Serious Sam, and yet that's more or less what they were going for.

Sounds pretty hot. I own Farcry but it runs like shit on my machine, so I'm looking forward to playing this.

Based on the demo I would agree wit that review.
I had a blast playing the demo and the graphics were fantastic and very, very, impressive.
The demo really surprised me.

I'll definately pick it up.
This and NGB will be the first Xbox titles I've picked up in months.
Good to see the system isn't dead yet.

Why are people acting like all of a sudden all xboxes will blow up once the x360 is released. You all do know that there are quite a bit of xbox games scheduled for release afterwards right? Hell there are games I want that won't be released 'till next summer... :lol

Here is the problem with that.
Unless the game is an exclusive I'm buying it for the PS2.
Yeah, I know the graphics might look a hair better on the Xbox, but with the PS2 I can play the game on my PS3 in the future if I desire. And probably with better graphics if the PS3 offers some cool enhancemets.

Yeah, I remember being extremely ticked off with that whole affair. Once again, devleopers run short on ideas and don't know hot to wrap up a good story. Those last levels were just annoying, and really bumped down the total awesome experience. I'm hooked on the story in the XBox version thus far. LIke I said, even if you lpayed the PC version, you should check out the fresh take of the story on the XBOx. I can't wait to try that 'Predator' game mode, and 'Steal the Sample' looks like it'll be a blast with the right people. If if any of you see me on XBL tonight send me an invite. ;)

How are the enemy animations and collision i.e, is there a difference if you shoot them in the head vs. in the leg?

Yes, you can one shot head kill (at least in single). You don't want to nail them in the body armor if they have it on, but I don't remember a unique leg damage animation. Could be wrong. I'll be playing again tonight.

Haven't had any time to play through single player, but me and my guys have had a ton of fun in multiplayer via system link here at work. The map editor is hella cool, especially since you can do it on the Xbox. It's amazingly easy to whip up a simple map in 10~15 minutes. Maps can be shared via system link or Live (although it seems that maps created offline can't be shared on XBL). PC map makers will probably scoff at the limitations of the map maker, but for a console, its great. Being able to place some stuff and instantly walk around the map, then jump back to the editor is awesome.

The only bad things I've noticed is that if you want to make changes to your map, you have to republish it. While you can overwrite a map from the editor interface, when you republish it, it creates a second map with the SAME NAME for multi-player. So my first dinky map was "Try 1." After trying a few things, resaving, republishing, etc, I went to system link and didn't see my changes. Went to change the map and saw three "Try 1" maps listed. So that sucks.
The maps I've made haven't exceeded 2MB that I've seen, so they're pretty small for sharing over a broadband connection. When someone connects to you and doesn't have the map you've published, they're prompted to download the map. They stay connected to your lobby while they download, which is cool (so you can voice chat or what-not while they wait for the map to download). Once it's on their system, it stays there.

I'm not sure how good Pariah's map editor was, but Farcry's is awesome.

I played this game a couple of hours and I thought it wasn't that good at all. First of all I know what to expect from xbox graphics and they did a fine job on that part but when it comes to gameplay, the controls are nowhere near the standards set by games such as Halo, Doom and Riddick and the semi-sneaking action with the weird tree-branch-trap did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe it gets better when the game progresses but after an hour or two I really didn't feel like playing anymore.
I know sites like IGN and Gamespot tend to overrate games a little bit but this is absurd. This game shouldn't be nowhere near a 9 on average.

The map editor in Pariah (XBox version) doesn't hold a candle to this. It was O.K. but Far Cry: Instincts blows it away by a mile. I can wait to see what people come up with. I plan on dabbling with this myself ths week. Glad to hear that you and yor crew are loving the multiplayer. I can't WAIT sink my teeth into this title.

Thanks for those multiplayer and map editor impressions, I guess I'll know for myself in about 45 minutes.

An example of one of the maps I whipped up real quick. A small island with a large lake in the middle (basically a donut). In the middle of the lake is a research tower (can't remember the editor specific name; it's large, with two sets of stairs leading to the top). The tower looks somewhat like a chess rook. On the roof of the tower is the only rocket launcher in the map.
There are 3 ways to get to the tower: a walkway bisects the lake, connected the North and South of the tower to the island. Also, in each corner of the lake is a jet ski. So you can walk, ride, or swim to the tower. At the four corners of the lake are small buildings with sniper rifles on top. All of the health and armor is near these buildings.

The idea behind the map is this: you want to get that rocket launcher and get some easy kills with it; however, it's pretty easy for a good sniper to take you out from one of the four corner buildings. If you have the rocket and stay on the tower, there's no health or armor, so you WILL die if you just stay up there firing rockets all day. The map's not perfect, but it's been pretty balanced for the three of us.

Holy shit this game is now out for the Xbox? I've been waiting for this game since forever.

A few questions- how's the frame rate? 30 frames for the most part? Are there multiple difficulty levels to play in? And are the levels still as huge as they were over on the PC? Draw distance still absurd? Is there any loading that interupts your play as you travel along the areas,or is it done with short check points that load alot?

Sorry to bombard you guys with so many questions, just excited that the game finaly made it out.:)

Framerate is solid at around 30fps, havent experienced any dips in my playthrough so far (nearly finished I belive).

I honestly cant remember if there are difficulty levels :lol didn't think about it when starting and I'm not near my xbox to check atm.

Levels are still huge, with absurd draw distance, yes. Loading times occur between levels, there are 13 levels in total (so I've heard), each level has multiple checkpoints. Load times between levels are about 10-15 seconds on my xbox.

It was put in there for a very specific reason and for the player's sake. It is simply audio information for the player so he knows where the enemy is in relation to his position.
