Far Cry on PC was soo awesome. I loved it :)

BTW: This doesn't look like a port, I don't remember seeing any of those locations in the PC version. Also there was no dual wielding in the PC version.

Very nice looking. I'm not a graphics guy, so is it just me, or does the uber-amount-of-light make everything look weird?

Oh yeah, you may be right. Well, that makes this game even more attractive then (as long as the gameplay is similiar to the PC version)

I see this getting pushed back again, then pushed back to Xbox 360

god I hate staged screenshots -- just confuses everyone.... There isn't even a targeting reticle in any of them, yet people will still think this is the real-deal....

Is this PS2 or something because I don't see any normal mapping?

I didn't want to interfere with all this console lovin' but this looks NOWHERE as good as Far Cry PC.
No normal-mapping (except statue head), no pixelshaded water (nope, that's a DX7 water - see Blade: The Edge of Darkness or UT2K3), really, really bad textures (dark10x support me!)

There's only bloom and staged anti-aliasing.

I fear for HL2 Xbox port.

(Now they'll all kill me :( )

More like it's a "far cry" from the original version. Heh...heh...right?

Honestly though, for the little (or not so little) 64MB box that could, this is looking to be an impressive port.

Hope to see this game in one form or another at E3. I loved Far Cry on my PC. Also hope that it stacks well in his consoole form.

Technically, what exactly were you all expecting? With this gens. obsolete architectures & features, this looks extremely good. (even though its renders) If Ubi's SC series porting policies stay in place, I shudder to think what the PS2/GC versions will look like.

I dunno, there are some neat things in the PS2 (and likely GC) version SC-CT. The displacement mapping is very nice, the specular highlights from various light sources is very impressive for the hardware, the water is impressive, and the shadows worked out well. Sadly, other limiations prevented it from turning out better than it did. I'd like to rent one of those versions sometime just to see what they pulled off in person.

Oh, and welcome back! :)

Some of you people set your bars too high, this is awesome for Xbox.

Far Cry was awesome until I those abominations entered the game. I thought the game was throwing some sick joke at me initially. Stupid, stupid, stupid. But yeah the engine is fan-fucking-tastic.

yeah thats where i pretty much lost interest in the game... but i did power through to the ending, and what a terrible ending it was.

otherwise it was fun though ;)

Agreed, this is a great port if it runs smoothly.

Oh, and welcome back!

Many thanks dark, I've missed our friendly debates/discussions. But the GC & the PS2's hw limitations are not the same. (regarding SC:CT) Though purely from an economic perspective, I can see UBI optimizing the PS2 & XBX versions much moreso then porting it over to the GC.

Gonna be careful here so I don't get "re-banned"

When crytek first made this engine on the console side of things it was made on the cube hardware, so there is no excuse why this game should not rock on it, and if it end's up being another slop job, ubi can keep it, and I'll keep my money.

Is this Xbox? Looks really good.
BTW, were those comparison pics supposed to show how much better the PC version looks? If so, I don`t see it. Looks basically identical to me.

Ditto. Far Cry before the monsters = awesome. After = stale Doom crap. Which is sad, because for awhile the game really felt like the most definitive version ever of Jurassic Park if nothing else; replace the monsters with dino's and I'd likely buy the game all over again.

And for those who haven't clued in yet, it's apparently a sequel at least in terms of story. There has been coverage for a long time talking about how it continues the PC story by granting the main character special abilities.

Lord I suck at grammar. :(

Anyways there was a patch that did precisely that. I don't remember the models being fantastic but it worked even if it did look stupid since Dinosaurs don't launch themselves 50 feet into your face. Another problem is that those horrible monsters were tightly woven with the game so it ended up feeling like a cheap replacement than a solid alternative.

If these are Xbox screens why are they 1024x768? 1280x720 would make sense, but not 1024x768.
Yeah I too noticed the off kilter size. I'm taking these shots as proof of concept and what to expect for the final product. A very close approximation if you will.

Now with MS Word filtering goodness!

Yeah. It's not enough to just replace the visuals (although that helps, I'd rather be looking for giant lizards rather than short guys); you have to deal with whatever fanfiction sensibility caused the developers to design the monsters with the agility of the Flash and infinite ammo rocket launcher arms. -_-;

It's a testament to the game that I like going back and playing everything up to that point again, though.

There isn't one PC screen in this thread.
