Mac (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest, Welcome to Wrexham) and Hawley (Fargo, Alien: Earth) are the co-creators of the Far Cry series. Hawley will also serve as showrunner, while Mac is set to star in the show. The series will be executive produced by Mac, Hawley, and Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions; Michael Garcia for 26Keys Productions; Nick Frenkel for 3Arts Entertainment; and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

"This collaboration is really an embarrassment of riches. Far Cry a psychological tailspin that doesn't shy away from the darkest and most absurd parts of humanity, which aligns perfectly with FX's bold and fearless storytelling style," said Margaret Boykin, head of film and television content, Ubisoft Film & Television.

An anthology drama [...], each season will be set in a new world with a different cast of characters following the video game franchise's signature standalone storytelling format.

I have to admit that I opened this thread thinking "oh god, another dogshit video game adaptation," but Noah Hawley's involvement has me legitimately interested in how this turns out. Fargo and Legion weren't perfect series (outside of Fargo's brilliant second season), but they were always ambitious and interesting and never felt like they were just cashing in on their IP.

Alien Earth is supposed to be quite good as well. I love Rob Mac. Its Always Sunny is possibly my favorite sitcom of all time, but he is not a very good actor, especially in dramatic roles

I am expecting this won't follow the games at all. Which is good, imo. Fallout tv show laid out the blueprint that the rest of Hollywood is getting behind. Create a world that is authentic to the video game adaptation but with new characters and story. Zach Cregger is doing the same thing with the upcoming Resident Evil movie

These games always vary in the settings that its really hard to nail down what "style" a Farcry game is these days. This could just be any sort of action/thriller/drama that involves some cult, tyrant and guns with the Farcry name slapped on it.

Watch the protagonist climb a radio tower in episode 1, sees he has to do around 50 or so more from the drone shot that comes after, sighs that a few of them are in between suspiciously similar looking bandit camps, climbs or ziplines back down, uses his phone/pda/laptop and then gets offered a booster pack by the in-series store to skip to the ending of the show in episode 10. Can't wait to see it.

Far Cry Blood Dragon series since the first one was the only decent Far Cry game as well as the only decent Ubisoft game ever.

The game was essentially a tech demo.
It was fun and entertaining but not exactly a rich story driven tale.

Bizarre thing to adapt.
I doubt even younger gens even know of this franchise.
