FarCry Instincts Map Editor Movie

wow, that's awesome!

you can literally put stuff almost anywhere and even shape the land how you want!!!

Sounds like the map editor in Pariah...

...A console game level editor that isn't goddamn grid based. A huge step forward. Take note, Tony Hawk and Tenchu.

Still, I wish they included a simple bsp-ish editor if you didn't want to use pre-set structures or anything.

wilco said that the MP of this game was awesome, plus the benefit of not need to wait that a the dev. makes a DLC (thanks to the map-ed) is a big plus for me :)

I've been making maps (just for fun) with the PC version...this console version looks even better!

The gameplay lends itself to open maps so I don't think it really needs an additive/subtractive editor where you'd make things from scratch. Sure, you can't make much of a building (unless they had some wall and floor prefabs)...but I think the ones they provide will be good enough. Sharing over Live? GAHGAH...that's awesome.

Ah, I didn't mean a bsp-ish editor for the whole map. That'd be horrible, hah.

I'd just like to see the ability to customize the structures in some way. It'd be a bitch to adapt something full-fledged into a console interface, though, no doubt.

Yeah, there are a lot of things overlooked as it's console based, even visually.

I was playing around making a level that was used pixel shadows in every instance. It was resource heavy, and on the PC version there are apparent limitations (each object could support shadows from only four other objects). The little test level looked CGish because of the lighting, but it ran pretty slow :P

A lot of the levels will look the same, I'm sure. But it will really show you who can design a fun map, and who can't. Rather than who can make the nicest looking one (though I'm sure you'll be able to tell which ones had a lot of time spent on them in terms of visuals).
