What's your favorite Boss in a RPG?

Omega weapon in FF8 was sweet! Ozma in FF9 was also cool, and a bastard.

Those two are among my forever favorites.
Abyssion
in ToS is probably my fav boss this generation.

The black troll in Gothic II. Amazing doesn't begin to describe it. You battle him atop a mountain, the blanket of night removed slightly be a creeping moon. Sure, he was easy to dispatch, but the way they set it up stands as the most exhilirating boss encounter I've savored in an RPG.

Giga Gaia from Chrono Trigger:

Let's see... Culex... Omega Weapon, as already mentioned.... Smithy, Abyssion... yeah... I'll think of some others, I guess.

The battle in Chrono Trigger with the huge dinosaur (the first time) you fight on the bridge in prehistoric time.

All of BG2's uber enemies, especially when fighting them at the lowest levels possible.

I've noticed, as I toss aside easier RPG's "bosses" that they throw at me with little trouble, that I for some wierd reason remember the hardest ones the best. You know, the ones that piss me off so bad I'm channeling strings of curses from Hell itself because no human language is raw enough.

Vesper & Decus, Star Ocean 2. EVIL!

Wiegraf/Velius, Final Fantasy Tactics. (Ramza: "Durr, entire castle wiped out by demons, I think I'll run off from the party by myself. Alma! Alma!!!")

Can't believe we made it this far without mention of the lava man himself....

Chrono Trigger was damn near a religious experience for me as a gamer - and I've been in it since Pong :D

Just thinking about it makes me want to play that game again - right now. That game is greater than 99% of the shit I have played in the past 5 years.

Chrono Trigger is the best RPG of all time. Awesome story, awesome soundtrack, awesome characters, and awesome boss. They made Lavos such a badass. I hope there is a remake of it because I don't think any sequel can surpass it..... even though Chrono Cross was a nice try.

So many great things about the character himself ... I really do need to go play this game again.

Lavos' last form REALLY sucked, imho. The whole astronaut/dog thing was just... ugh. Loved the game, however, and his first two forms were pretty damn cool (particularly the 2nd!)

As for my favorites? Hmmmmm.

Dark Force is high up there on the list. Gilgamesh, Magus, Atma Weapon, Kefka (final), Dark Sol (kinda), Fawful, Paper Mario 2 Final Boss, most of the optional Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2 bosses, man, there are many I loved. That's a pretty decent list, so far.

Dark Falz' final form in PSO was much better, imho. Looked like a stupid Christmas decoration there. Olga Flow was awesome too. :lol

Some good SNES favorites:

Again, music ruled!

The end fight of Final Fantasy VIII is still my favorite. The music is awesome, especially the first time when Griever starts using its Shockwave Pulsar! The first time I beat the game it took me almost two hours, because I had two of my weakest characters in my party. :D I didn't know others would join in when one of the first three would die...

Damn straight. That skeleton ghost thingy was a prick.

Some of my favourites were the one-two punch duo of Barubary and Deathevn from Breath of Fire II (SNES version). Anyone that went against Barubary solo with Ryu sub-level 40 is a certified champion in my book (I tried but literally had the tissues out within a few rounds), coupled that with Deathevn literally being a bitch and ripping you to shreds since you've lost over half of your healing items due to going through that cursed last dungeon.

Challenge wise, I always counted the vampires in Illusion of Gaia to be one of the biggest frustrations because you couldn't just simply "level up" to beat them. It took pure skill and a dash of luck.
