Favorite Christmas song?

mine is 'have yourself a merry little christmas', specifically a solo jazz trombone playing it

one of the first times i got drunk i was 13 or 14 and it was near christmas time, and i was listening to this christmas jazz album. I have no idea where i got the CD from to why i decided to put it on, but there was a trombone playing 'have yourself a merry little christmas' and it was just the most beautiful thing id ever heard (the booze was helping me think that lol). and ever since then ive been a sucker for a trombone playing that tune

post your favorite version/arrangement of your favorite christmas tune...

i actually will never be able to find that arrangement again as i have no idea what it was called and there are likely a bazillion versions of a solo jazz trombone playing it, but this video captures the spirit of it...

Although it's close between East 17 & the Die Hard soundtrack.

There's a whole lot of funny little Who's in Whoville in this thread. I hope yall realize Santa is watching, and he knows if you have been bad or good or grinching up Christmas threads by sarcastically posting bad tunes.

My fav: the classic Here Comes Santa Claus by Gene Autry

But I'm usually running this chill jazzy playlist at a low volume while at work:

I always had a soft spot for The First Noel, and Nat King Cole’s entire Christmas album was like…how I knew it was the season growing up.

I don't know that I could honestly pick. From the classics: I'm a fan of Sleigh Ride, Have Yourself..., Nutcracker, and Carol of the Bells, Feliz Navidad.

In the Modern World:
[R I P]

The Holidays Rule Volume 1 album

Kaskade Christmas:

Good Lovelies:

I also enjoy the Windham Hill Holiday Guitar Collection: This song is some some sort of religious Scottish folk song. I just think the vibe on this is amazing.

My least favorite song is... the unspeakable song.... you know which one it is... the one that haunts you..... it's in this thread and I immediately want to walk out of any store when it plays.

Which is it: Christmas Shoes or Walking in Seattle Latte Land? I hate both songs equally...A LOT

This one was never written or even sold as a Christmas song -- but always gave me that type of sentiment. The lyrics are simple and remind me that I was a kid during a time in which entertainment could still be considered going outdoors, media was what I wanted to read in books (not instant access via the internet), and for Christmas I often received traditional toys and games. I didn't have access to video games until I went out of my way to save up and buy an SNES when I was 12-years old. I know that when Paul McCartney wrote this is speaks of any generation's times past but it doesn't seem like there would be much relatable in the song meaning to someone born in the late-90's/early-2000's.

Background music when we put up our tree/decorations. Eventually the misses wants the classics to sing along to though. At least we have our tradition to always watch Christmas Vacation on XMAS eve.

Bummmmpp for the birthday of Christ coming tomorrow. Here are some of my “must-play”:

The Carpenters - Merry Christmas, Darling

The cover by Phil Vassar is a nice touch for a male sung version as well:

Josh Groban - Believe

Either Nat King Cole or Bing Crosby - Oh Holy Night

Statler Brothers - “Old Toy Trains” and “I Believe in Santa Clause”

Can’t go wrong with…

Wham! - Last Christmas

And finally…

Vince Gill - Let there be Peace on Earth

And yes, I know some people may not like the style of some of these songs, but these are all songs that put me in moments this time of the year that I enjoy. A feeling of comfort and warmth, and I figured some of these many people here may never have heard of.

Merry Christmas, GAF!

Momma love the Roses - Elvis.

Not really a Christmas song but was on one of his early Christmas releases, and became my mom's favorite song. So when I hear it I think of her and Christmas together.
