Sean hannity rage will be glorious tonight...

on a serious note i hope they change this so it doesn't happen again. For that matter fix govts net security because they get hacked all the time anyway.

Well, that's a relief. Looking forward to the Fox News coverage, but very relieved that there's no recommendation of prosecution, that was a scary 15 minutes.

Sounds like the whole state dept is just old people who are careless with emails.

Yep its basically what we knew before. Hilary and the state department were stupid handling the emails but there was never any proof of intentional misconduct. The issue has been fixed going forward for the state department since Kerry took over.

I don't see how this hurts her any more than what we already knew since the previous report said basically the same thing

I'm confused how he can say no charges should be brought about based on what he said for the entire thing?

I mean, intention or not, it was still a mistake no?

If i accidentally get in a car crash, and it wasn't an intention, I still face consequences.

I sort of agree with this. She was careless and (according to the guy) should have known better. She also had a lot of classified or Top Secret data. But they find no issue with what's going on.

Weird.

He said the entire US Government is sloppy in their classification policy and use, and Hillary was no exception to this. They found a handful of emails that could be top secret, but found no intentional or willful abuse of the system, nor any illegal activity like trading of government secrets.

Do you want him to take the entire state department down? Including many ex Secretary of States? It was a culture at the state department not just Hillary coming in with her secret email severs.

I wonder how many politicians would be caught doing the same? Older people and network security measures do not mix well.

Trump definitely got his talking point ammo - extreme negligence, no reasonable person, etc.

This, although I doubt it's unlikely that he'll get significant new supporters out of this.

People convinced she's corrupt will continue to think so, and those who don't think this is significant will not be swayed. I doubt much will change in the political debate.

Reading this thread without watching the statement was hilarious.

You all thought it was over for a good while there. Sounds like this was cut like a WWE promo and you all got swerved.

Right after the statement ended, CBS anchor talks about how people may have hacked her email but nothing about how there was no direct evidence of it. Good to see there are no charges, but the GOP has gotta be loving this anyway.

All those classified AT the time emails? Absolutely disgusting. Evidence of being extremely careless confirmed. 7 top secret email chains at the time, my god...

Not even supported by full-time security staff for god's sake! Jesus wept.

I think the FBI director was excellent in his statement, and I appreciated how detailed he was, specially bring to light the sheer amount of gross negligence. I absolutely admire how the FBI handle is, and kept it open for the justice department, stating outright that this does not mean there shouldn't be consequences for something of this nature.

No one here should be thinking its a huge victory. When the FBI Director says you're sloppy and careless with secure national Intel and you're opposing candidate has been saying it, it's more ammo for Trump.

She's still in the race and ahead, but this is definitely not a big help. Especially with the sound bites Trump will have.

So there is no chance at all the Department of Justice is going to issue any indictment after the FBI recommendation?

No they said the State Dept was being sloppy.

Yeah pretty much.

It's also worth noting that the entire reason she went the home server route is that she wanted to use a blackberry like Obama instead of this monstrosity:

And that was the only thing on offer because during the Bush admin everything in or near the White House was still being run like it's the 1980s.

How can anyone think this will damage Clinton?

The Republicans and Trump have been banging this drum for months, if not years. Any effect it might have had is already priced in.

I had the feeling he was talking about emails that discussed classified information in some way. Not actual classified information. Like with attachments.

My heart goes out to me for how long I couldn't breathe as I tried to follow GAF posts to figure out what the statement was ultimately getting st

Yeah, it's one thing if none of the e-mails had classified data. But alot of them did. Including top secret stuff.

So yeah, I don't understand their recommendation. I'm not a trump supporter, but I also just am not a fan of Hillary. This was a pretty careless mistake or shortcut without thinking of consequences. That's not a mindset we need in a President.

I appreciate the honesty and thoroughness with this tough topic from the Director. Very good press conference.

He said the entire US Government is sloppy in their classification policy and use, and Hillary was no exception to this. They found a handful of emails that could be top secret, but found no intentional or willful abuse of the system, nor any illegal activity like trading of government secrets.

Thought he was just referencing the State Department compared to other agencies/departments there?

He said EVERYONE in the State Department was sloppy, it was not just a special case of Hillary alone.

Edit: sorry State Department
