Fear Street Trilogy - Netflix

Watched part one, it was pretty mediocre. A poor attempt at imitating classics from a bygone age that struggled to keep my attention and was instantly forgettable.

Can't see myself wasting any time on part 2 or 3.

If you want a decent Netflix original horror watch The Baysitter. Don't waste any time on this.

The Ritual is still their best horror. It came out before they started injecting all of their original content with the same stuff making it unwatchable for some people. ;)

Actually, that's a fair point. The Ritual is is damn good horror film.

The thing that hurts the most is that the casting of all these hot ass ethinic girls coincided with a total lack of them showing the goods. Desperate white girls used to pop top at the drop of a hat to get that fame but nooooooo now it's too good for them :p

Just imagine the 80's/90's era horror/slasher/action genres with modern casting quotas. Woulda been GLORIOUS for those of us who like some spice.

For those who were bored out of their minds with the first one, is the second one as terrible or is it tolerable this time?

I enjoyed the first but they are different.
The first embodies 90’s horror while the second embodies 80’s horror.

If you don’t like horror movies then don’t watch.

Watched the second yesterday and it was definitely fun to watch. Parts from the first not annoying me made it more entertaining.

Watched part two. Needs a tighter edit, but other than that, pretty solid. I like that they’re taking these played out slasher movie tropes and trying to create something with more lore behind it.

Also: seen some absolute fucking bellends moaning about how the women are all strong in this, and the men are either evil or useless, because ‘Netflix is too woke’.

…bitch, please. Have you watched a fucking horror movie from the 80s?

The final girl trope has been around longer in slasher flicks than any of the misogynistic little butt wipes whining on social media 🤣

It’s like Laurie Strode and Nancy Thompson never existed. SMH.
You should definitely post this as a reply to them on social media.

Second one is better than the first, but not by much.

However, I find it interesting that the second one was billed as a "Friday the 13th homage", because they got the formula wrong. Sure, it takes place in a summer camp... but the difference is that Friday the 13th was NEVER about the gore - on the contrary, they were edited down to shit by film censors lol. F13 was more nudity over gore, whereas Fear Street 2 is gore >>>>>>>>> nudity. The most nudity you see is Fear Street is bare male ass, and the slightest hint of female nudity through a dirty window lmao.
It's just hilarious to me how the view on nudity AND gore has completely flipped from the 70s. Gratuitous gore = A-Ok, Female nudity = *clutches pearls*

Having said all that, I am actually looking forward to the third one. I'm curious about the beating heart thingy, and the lore behind it all seems interesting. My theory: I am expecting the cop dude's family to be involved in the Occult stuff, which is why he's such a weirdo.

Hopefully the series ends on a high note, even though the first two were rather mediocre.

Really like the Fear Streets books even if i only read like 3 or 4

I didn't liked PART 1, i was shocked it got high reviews even, thought it wasn't a good slasher or scary and the twist was just weird,i wasn't gonna watch the next one, but the trailer looked interesting.

PART2 however i really enjoyed, much better and a fun summer camp movie,i would recommend any horror fan to give this a watch.

For PART3 im not even sure if hyped, disliked 1 but loved 2,the trailer looks like a worse The Witch, i hope its good but i can see Sarah Fier was not evil twist

Tried pt 1 but not enough people died and I got bored. Might watch rest while playing Civ or something. It did make me want to watch the Scream tv series again, which I thought was fuckin great.

Lol, not a single one. It was a "eh" movie.
I'm just in for the kills but if the very first one in the mall is a good meter to judge, i'm gonna be severely disappointed.

Are the kills at least on the level of the netflix slasher series?!

A few kills are gruesome, I was very surprised by the amount of blood and gore for sure. I don't know which slasher series netflix has, which ones are you referring to?

There's only one good kill in the first movie, and it's near the end.

As for the second, I honestly don't remember any specific or special kills. I just remember it being more gory because the killer's choice of weapon is an axe rather than a knife.

Is Slasher actually good or is it more teen horror crap?

There’s not many kills in the first, the second has a lot more. Slasher is more kill-based overall while Fear Street is more story-based.

Lol then i'm gonna bail out right now, thanks.

Slasher is pretty decent if you like the genre and it has some good kills.

it hit every mark on the woke checklist in the first 30 minutes, and then i turned it off.

look, im not against people being who they are and all that, but this whole every gender, color and person of every sexual orientation needs to be included in every new thing is just fake and annoying. it takes me completely out of the experience because i know they are just posturing for that potential dick head who screams bloody murder because there isnt a brown person or a gay person or whatever.

that kind of stuff used to feel organic and real and now its just so forced. i'll pass.

Yeah, it does get annoying. I try to overlook it though. Like the show Sex Education, it’s a great show overall but the amount of gays in it is beyond realistic for a single school to have.

I enjoyed the trilogy. The third act was the weakest given they wanted to pull the prior cast into it and resolve the plot, but in so doing there wasn’t a lot of teen horror/suspense in it.

I’d say overall it’s more of a Scooby-Doo story told across 3 films which I found entertaining but we never really have a consistent Scooby gang to follow across the films which spoils the character development.

i really liked what i saw. it felt very 90s. the black kid in the chat room was a big nostalgia trip. used to spend hours in AOL chat rooms back in the day lol

ill have to give it another shot some day.

Third act was definitely the weakest of the three.
While it wrapped things up it did leave some questionable writing.

The whole thing could have been easily avoided if Sarah Feir dobbed in the real witch. Which would have been easy to prove since the book and everything was directly underneath his house.

Called it.

Third movie was the dumbest of the three, but has its moments. The brawl between the killers was fun for the 30 seconds it was on screen.

But yeah I agree, lots of questionable writing indeed - like why did the curse end with the death of Sheriff Goode when Mayor Goode is still alive? He participated in it as well.
Also, the "they want a witch, I'll show them a witch" moment was the weirdest "girl power" moment I've ever seen lmao. We're supposed to be on the side of the person who is willing to make a pact with the devil? And why would she suddenly abandon that idea when it's revealed Solomon made a pact as well? Why wouldn't she just join up with him?? It's what she was there to do!!
Lastly... security gates holding back supernatural undead killers? When there are CLEARLY windows right next to them that can be broken?? Come on...

Whatever. It's a dumb teen horror as I said from the very beginning and we're probably thinking about the details more than the writers ever did.

Edit: OH GOD I just remembered the Konami Code scene. That's going to be memed, right??

I thought she’d have to kill his entire family, wife and kids included but I guess they didn’t want to go that dark.

Lol of course the protagonist of the second episode is the fucking obnoxious redhead from stranger things :ROFLMAO:

Can this chick do any different role? she is always mad or snarky or both and she has a punchable face.

Is shia lebluff the protagonist of the third one?!

What's funny is that I turned it on for a quick minute, fast forwarded to a random bit and there she was having a rant and informing some guy she didn't need saving. I'm either very lucky or the whole movie is filled with this kind of crap.

That's a nice conclusion to the trilogy. This trilogy is a solid entry into the genre. I'd recommend it. It should resonate with younger audiences.

Yep. They wrapped that up nicely. A pretty decent effort all round, if you’re a fan of classic horror and want to see those tropes updated for a modern audience. Would have liked it a bit more grim and gritty, but other that, a solid effort.

In terms of Netflix movies I rate these:
Epi 1: 6
Epi 2: 9
Epi 3: 7

2nd one was legit good imo, 1st half of the 3rd I really enjoyed.

Did they allow any straight white men to be "non-evil" or survive the end? It would be a change from the standard Netflix formula if they did.

I don’t know where this mis-conception comes from. Netflix themselves have zero involvement with the creative process of it’s films and shows.

Furthermore, horror movies are usually made up of male killers and female survivors.

Plus I can't think of many Netflix originals that meet this criteria. Only watched part 1 and part 2 and the cop survives both so you can watch the first two at least I guess.
