Federal judge blocks launch of Venu (Fox/Disney/WB sports streaming service) thanks to Fubo

Judge Margaret Garnett of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said Friday Venu would “substantially lessen competition and restraint trade.”

Fubo, a sports-centric streaming service, sued the three companies earlier this year following the announcement of the new service. Lawyers for Fubo argued that Venu Sports is anticompetitive because Fox, Warner, and Disney force Fubo to pay for a broad bundle of general entertainment channels without the ability to handpick the sport-centric channels it wants.

Fubo is NOT a sports-centric streaming service. It's just a live TV streaming service that's losing its big draw (Bally Sports) soon and is throwing a fit because then no one will pay them $120 a month anymore.

Huh. Amazon Prime video has all of the major sports and also tons of live "television" channels. I figured if anyone would be sued for trying to monopolize media in such a way it would have been them - not Disney/Hulu who mostly airs like WNBA games and college sports that only home towns watch.
