The following link takes you to a detailed, day by day explnation of what's going on:
http://www.vox.com/2014/8/11/5988925/mike-brown-killing-shooting-case-ferguson-police-riots-st-louis

On August 9, Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was killed by a police officer named Darren Wilson in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri. Eyewitnesses to the shooting report that Brown was killed while attempting to surrender, but police say that Brown assaulted the officer before the shooting.

The incident provoked immediate anger and frustration in the community and around the country. The killing of Eric Garner, also an unarmed black man, by New York City police last month revived a public conversation about the history of police violence against black men, and the killing of Brown has inflamed it.

Protests began in the neighborhood immediately after Brown was shot, and continued throughout the weekend. On Sunday night, Ferguson erupted into civil unrest, with reports of looting, arson, and gunshots. Although the protests in the days that followed were largely nonviolent, an escalating and militarized police presence in the streets of Ferguson did nothing to ease the tension or soothe a concerned community, and local law enforcement's use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and dogs further eroded the trust between residents and police. On Thursday, the tide seemed to turn after Gov. Jay Nixon put the Missouri Highway Patrol in charge of security in Ferguson. But the next day, Ferguson police revealed details from the day of the shooting, and that night tensions escalated at protests.

So, you guys remember the woman who was shot in the head in a drive-by during the early days of the protests in Ferguson? She's feeling a lot better, and she says that there was no drive-by. The 4-5 black men the cops said they were looking for were the ones who helped her.

Even more worryingly

The bullet lodged against her skull, near the middle of her forehead. Aaten-White says it took doctors about a day to decide that it was safe to remove it. She says when she woke up from the surgery on Wednesday evening, August 13, the doctors and nurses told her police officers came and confiscated the bullet as evidence. As she recovered, she says, she waited for those officers to return and do a full interview about the incident.

"I would ask every day while I was there," she says, "'Did anyone from the police department come? Have they called for me? Are they going to be here today?' And nobody could give me an answer."

Aaten-White is home now, recuperating, though she did appear at a church rally with Michael Brown's family. She also retained Marwan Porter, a Florida-based attorney who specializes in cases involving police misconduct and personal injury. He's in town now, and Daily RFT spoke with him yesterday as he drove to the Ferguson Police Department to try to obtain Aaten-White's case files.

"We want to find out who and what agency took possession of the bullet," he said. "We want to identify who was responsible for firing the weapon that ended up with a bullet being lodged in the front of Mya's head."

When we spoke with him several hours later, the story just got weirder.

"I've talked to both the St. Louis County Police Department and Ferguson...they have no record...no file number, no report," he said. "They don't have anything."

Again for new thread. If anyone finds a clip of Killer Mike on CNN apparently he dropped some truth on live TV and I would love to see it.

Pretty sure this came back as being incorrect.

No it was true. The initial person reporting simply had the wrong church name. They really did raid a church.

Based besada.

Holy shit at the story of the woman who was shot. If there's any malfeasance there, I hope they nail them to the wall. Utterly unacceptable that they are stonewalling her. But after the shit that has happened with that department, part of me just isn't even surprised anymore.

Wow, regarding the Aaten-White story. Wouldn't be the first time in this country shit got that out of hand. Oh boy...feel a deep pit in my stomach right now.

The sad thing is that I'm having trouble expressing shock here. This police department has practically been going down a list of scummy shit to do to the community.

Seriously? The police are raiding churches because they think protesters are sleeping there? What is this Gaza?

I wish somebody recorded a clip of the Tim stream from Sunday where that lady shouted "THIS ISN'T FUCKING IRAQ!" when she was calling out some cops that were threatening to shoot journalists.

That bullet is gone. They sent someone to pick it up but have no record of it. Any intelligent questions about whether the cops are just covering their ass will get buried.

And yet they keep praying at those meetings they use to shame the public.

Okay reading those other tweets its even worse. You know who attacks a Church they think is full of people? Barbarians. As in, that's the kind of middle ages low-handed shit you don't expect to hear in America.

Mother of God this is insane.

Um, raiding churches?

Wow.

Where are all the ultra conservative freedom fighters raising hell about this? Fucking hypocrites.
