I don't mean a total remake. But for DS there would necessarily need be many changes of minor to major nature... compress various files to hit desired DS card size, recompression of FMV sequences or replacement with real-time equivalents, resizing or redesigning of certain areas so nothing important is missed with the lesser resolution of DS, and so on. With PSP or a future Nintendo handheld they wouldn't need worry about any of that, but could essentially do a PS1 port that improves on the simple things like resolution and texture filtering.BlueLegs said:I don't see the point of a remake on the psp as it may as well be on the ps2 if they are going to be doing the graphics up (and if they were going to do that i'd want it on the PS3 cause PSP games are going to start looking really shitty by the time the PS3 comes around). At least on the DS all they would have to do is downsample the background images and add texture maps to the 3d characters and items (maybe even touch up those models as well).
Anyway, given at least 3, 4, 5, 6, and Crystal Chronicles hitting GBA/DS in the next few years, it's not like there's an FF gap they badly need to fill. If I were Square Enix I'd probably not want to flood the market with all the remakes in too short a time, and eventually release VII-IX on PSP and/or later Nintendo machines.
Never a rumor, just speculation on the possibilities and disagreements on how it would be done...pakbeka.. said:where does this FF7 DS port rumor comes from? was this ever actually posted in some magazine or is it simply GAF going crazy?
