Diablos said:At this point, they might as well. Graphically, FFXII appears to be a second-gen PS2 title that didn't come out at the right time.

I used to want this game very badly. Don't care much now.
Diablos said:The characters definitely look nice, but it is suffering from PS2's greatest weakness - trying to display detailed textures in a complex world with detailed environments and character models.

Awesome looking environment, nice character model, but the textures are very washed out. Note the bricks. Looks like a wall up close in a first person shooter with medium texture detail. It doesn't match with the sharpness and clarity of the wooden textures it is right next to, but they aren't far behind.

Washed out. Objects on characters and other aspects of the environment (throughout the game, not just this screenshot) seem to conform to the same surface.
By no means am I saying FFXII sucks, I'm just saying, the PS2 has already shown it's age and games have no choice but to look the way they do now.

Wyzdom said:I'm more disappointed about this whole "delay it to next-gen" thing.
It's a present gen game, i don't want a fucking upgraded port and i don't want to wait one more year. It's not a shame at all to still have big titles for present gen and i hope the PS2 will continue to receive big games until the end of 2007. I doubt i will buy a next gen console before that time.
SolidSnakex said:I don't even see how people can say FFXII is too late or too delayed. Are people forgetting DQ7? That was delayed for more than FFXII and ended up being the best selling PSone game ever in Japan (and the only RPG to ever sell over 4m there).
